An experiment. So consistently strong, and clearly has longevity. No rush to consume these…
So decadent, going close to the explosive line, but doesn’t cross it. Blueberries and rich black fruits mesh with sandalwood and brown sugar. Weighty on the mid palate with relaxed acidity. This is epic. Still in its prime so consume now. — 8 months ago
We had a busy weekend with some friends going through a few bottles. We started with the nice invigorating Riesling from Figgins. Not like the 2020 however. we paired it with some different light cheeses like Brie, Muenster cheese, an apricot flavored cheese and a garlic flavored curd cheese. They all brought different flavors out of the wine. Fun experiment. Interestingly, one of the bottles was carbonated 🤔, the yeast must have still been active. — 2 years ago
Color is a dark blue-purple. Dark fruit, baked blackberries and cassis are the primary aromas followed by black tea and spice with a lingering touch of eucalyptus. Still tastes a little young with some heat but mouth coating and filling the palate with blackberries, cocoa, leather, and espresso beans. A medium plus jammy finish. Will go well with our New York bone in steaks. — 2 months ago
Quite the white wine blend! My last bottle as I have enjoyed crushing these during spring time the last few years. I’ve much preferred the 2019 experiment to the 2020 experiment (which is heavy Viognier and Albariño).
Roughly 25 SauvB/ 13 Grenache Blanc/ 12 roussanne/ 12 Viognier/ 11 Albariño/ 10 Vermentino/ 10 Marsanne/ 5 Picpoul Blanc
Aromatically, this comes across as SB and Viognier…it’s bright and semi-tropical (white peach, underripe guava) with honeysuckle and lemongrass. Wonderful texture channeling a spine of acidity with mineral/wet rock, some honeyed green apple crisps, and a sea-salted lemon finish. Oak doesn’t make much of an appearance. Profile wise, this falls in between your traditional Cali SBs and the newer “Super SauvBlanc” styles. Lovely. — 6 months ago

I’m not loving this. Some of the flavors are good but they don’t feel melded together. It has to be the Petit Verdot that’s throwing me off. — a month ago
