Well my night just got better. Still have half a bottle from last fall. Fingers crossed I'll get my hands on one this year. This is the most bourbony rye I think I've ever had. It's all there- cherry leather, caramel, cigar box, corn bread. It's so much like Pappy 15 but a little hint of rye 😊

Apparently one of the oldest Distillery sites in Scotland. Located by the sea on the Isle of Islay this receives the slowest distillation of any Islay malt, then spends 16 years in old oak casks before being bottled. This is very pungent, peaty and smoky. Hmm. Not my favorite upon opening. It’s a bit astringent and it comes across bitter as well. Little burnt rubber on the nose but it’s all very light at first. Maybe a bit more with air but not a lot. Tip of the tongue and sides for the finish. — 8 months ago

A Great night to say the least:
Magnum of Gargiulo money ranch road,
2000 Bryant, 25 year Macalllan. Totally forgot to post this pick from a few weeks back!
The Bryant drank as good as any French Bordeaux that I’ve ever had. The money ranch toad was mediocre in comparison and the 25 year Macallan was 2nd only to the amazing company we had in our house that night!!

Twice this venomous viper has evaded review. She jumps out and thrashes, coils round and inculcates. A devil of a bite too! Seductive, deceptive nose of caramel creme, rosemary, bay leaf and cinnamon roll. Palatal acupuncture ensues, as you slowly succumb to the hot cinnamon oil and scotch bonnet burn of the first phase. Phase two brings cinnamon and grilled peach with brown sugar cobbles and scotch bonnet honey. And finally the nose and close converge in satin vanilla, cinnamon, cracked black pepper and ginger. .

A blend of 6 and 16 year old whiskey. Finished in port barrels and there is an unmistakable red wine nose plus some cherry/raspberry flavor in the mix. Thought provoking rye for the wine lover. Velvety smooth with minimal bite. — 8 years ago
