Grossly underrated — 2 years ago
Vivid & crunchy, with red & black fruits in the nose (dark cherry, plums) but also some cloves, a hint of orange zest and some darker earthy notes in the back. A touch of brambly, wild character.
Much fresher vs the Nittnaus Pannobile.
On the palate smooth and with great flow. Nice, velvety tannins, zippy citrus acidity, damson plums, red currants, sour cherries. But also a core of irony minerality.
Very attractive, balancing nicely between the pure fruit and the savoury character. Plus some interesting edges on the side.
High drinkability, too!

‘20 smoky pissy roasty eggplants peppers brambly fruits — 2 years ago
Expressive nose with black peppercorns, cloves, crushed rock, a hint of iron & blood, underneath all that - pure black fruit. Fresh, spicy, enticing.
Medium bodied on the palate with ripe, grippy tannins, juicy black fruit acidity and nice purity to the fruit. This has grip, good tension, quite some power and loads of character. Reminiscent of Northern Rhône.
Nice length, too! A brilliant Austrian red! — 3 years ago

Dark ruby. Meaty blackberry on the nose. Less meat and more blackberry plus some stewed red apple on the juicy, medium palate. Medium plus acidity. Medium, surprisingly assertive tannins. Moderate finish that continues the complex palate. A food wine out of Austria that's perfect for Germanic fare (pork, sausages, noodles) or the typical American cookout. Drink now through 2027. — 6 days ago
