Pale gold hue. Aromas of honey, orange, peach, tangerine. Plus body and plus acidity. Relatively short finish, but an intriguing aftertaste. Solid dessert wine. — 2 months ago
My second set of wines to provide as part of a co-host event.
I picked these up during a visit to Morlet in the fall of ‘21. Sadly, these are the last of my initial stash. 58 semillon/36 SB/6 Muscat.
Poured blind for a group of 20 people at the end of a wine event, I was shocked that not one single person called this Cali. Many Sauternes, Barsac, and a few South African dessert wine guesses. It’s undeniably sporting botrytis flavors, but the richness has a wonderful spine of acidity. Honeyed mango, white peach and chock-full of orange blossom on the nose, there’s added candied spice and honeycomb on the palate. Didn’t pick up any nutty flavors (which I enjoy in Sauternes), but this was also fairly young. Extremely “fresh” for a dessert wine, if that makes sense. Best Cali dessert wine I’ve had, I think. — 9 months ago
Gorgeous gold in color with flashes of sunniness. Fantastic scents of lemon, cream and vanilla with flavors of vanilla, sugar cookie, honey, and an acidic hint of lemon. Balanced excellently. Drank this over many nights with many people. Universally enjoyed. — 21 days ago
Not too sweet dessert wine we had at Maydan — 5 months ago
A blend of mostly Semillon and about 10% Sauv Blanc, fermented 6 months in oak, aged for 3 years. Medium amber color with aromas of ripe sweet fruits and orange honey botrytis notes. On the palate rich flavors of ripe peaches and figs with vanilla notes. Long finish ending with sweet fruit notes. Tasting well now, Nice! Had this with a blueberry tart! — 9 months ago

Tart cherry with some earthiness. Another example of why we like Pinots from Otago NZ. August 2024. — a month ago
