Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2013

Very cool wood cut label. Color is beautiful. Garnett and black-cherry juice. Aroma is fresh and subtle. Some peony flowers and a berry-apple tartlet type thing. Flavors are striking considering how light it is. Excellent balance and very dry. ‘Stemy’ with strawberry-rhubarb pie perhaps. It’s Pinot, but it’s also strange and much more citrusy than most American stuff. Cheerful and easy to enjoy. I’d consider this a small in insight into the Bourgogne mystique. — a month ago

Coal River Valley Pinot Noir 2017

2017 vintage. Very fragrant and floral. Little bit of stemmy herbal-ness going on in the nose. Red and purple flowers: hibiscus, lilac, violet, rose petals, raspberry, peach melba, wild strawberry, green tea, lavender, tarragon. Tastes a lot like a good cru Beaujolais. — a year ago

Vieilles Vignes Côte du Py Gamay Noir 2016

Delectable Wine

Deep glistening violet. Powerful, mineral-accented red/blue fruit scents are complemented by suggestions of incense and candied violet. Silky, energetic and appealingly sweet, offering palate-staining black raspberry, boysenberry and spicecake flavors supported by a spine of juicy acidity. In an energetic style, showing impressive finishing thrust, smooth tannins and strong, mineral-dominated persistence. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, October 2019) — 4 months ago
