1998 vintage. At Cabotte in London. Medium lemon hue. Medium plus concentration of stone fruits, musty, mushroom ceps, bready and the lovely smell of aged champagne. On the palate, fresh and bright acidity, tense and crystalline with good concentration and evident fruit. Good finish. Immensely enjoyable. Drink now until 2023+. — 10 years ago
Medium deep ruby . Quite ripe and rich on the nose , sweet cherries, after a while more earthy , dried cranberry, inviting . On the palate more summer fruits , pomegranate, complemented by strong minerality , very good acidity and pretty present fine tannins . Good length , mineral finish . Needs time , drinkable with air and some red meat , but would benefit from another 5 years . Drank at Cabotte, London — 3 years ago

1999 vintage. At Cabotte in London. On the darker side of medium ruby. Deep concentration of black cherry aromas, manure and earth, stone minerality, savoury spice. Hugely complex. On the palate, wow. Great acidity - fresh - and huge concentration without over extraction. There's a depth to this wine that really hits the mid palate. Great length. Excellent. Drink now until 2026+. — 10 years ago
2010 vintage. At La Cabotte in Nuits St George. Medium lemon hue. On the nose, highly concentrated and pure - mineral chalkiness, lemon citrus fruits, purity of aromas. Still very youthful but obviously refined and complex. On the palate, medium acidity, medium plus silky body, medium alcohol. High concentration - almond paste, honeyed and rich without being over whelming or difficult to consume many glasses of it! Long, but not lingering, length. Very refined and elegant. Superb wine. Drink now until 2036. — 10 years ago

The 2016 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru comes from the Domaine’s 0.22-hectare parcel in Ruchottes de Dessus, just below the cabotte. It is matured in 50% new oak. There is fine intensity on the nose here: blackberry, raspberry, orange pith and a light mineral presence that will hopefully become more expressive once in bottle. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity, silky smooth in texture with tightly wound red cherry, white pepper and light mineral notes that become more conspicuous towards the detailed finish. This is certainly a fine Ruchottes-Chambertin although something tells me that there is even better to come. (Neal Martin, Vinous, July 2018)

On the palate, medium plus acidity, medium body and alcohol, medium minus fine tannins and long finish. Very good. Drink now until 2023+. — 10 years ago

At dinner at Le Cabotte. Entering a gorgeous drinking window. The nose is classic Chinon, loaded with red currant, crushed herbs, mineral dust, and hints of cassis. Beautiful Cabernet Franc herbaceousness, not green or vegetal, but alive. Red currants, crushed herbs, a little tobacco leaf, iron, stone, and that unmistakable Loire freshness. The fruit has enough generosity from the vintage to give a subtle fleshiness underneath the structure. The palate is all tension and energy. Incredible freshness, mouthwatering acidity, and a long mineral spine carry the wine across the palate. Unlike Baudry’s larger, more powerful bottlings, this is about movement. The fruit feels suspended in the acidity, and every sip seems to pull the next sip forward. After forty minutes of air, the wine became even more expressive. The red currant and herbaceous notes moved to the forefront, joined by gorgeous minerality and tremendous freshness. It is not thick or heavy like Cabernet Sauvignon, nor does it possess the density of Baudry’s biggest cuvées. Instead, it is all acid, tension, energy, and precision. Juicy, vibrant, and effortlessly drinkable, with the kind of electric persistence that makes great Cabernet Franc impossible to put down. — 22 days ago
