Mt. Veeder Chardonnay 2019

My new Favorite white, just love mountain fruit! Named for mountain range dividing Napa & Sonoma, old stone winery dug into side of dormant volcano crater in 1889, remained in production ever since. Pale lemon with aromas of Tropical and stone fruit with complex spice and floral notes. On the palate flavors of apple, pear and citrus with light oak and nutty tones, fresh and vibrant, well integrated. Long finish ending with fruit and flinty mineral characteristics. Long aging potential. Nice! — 2 years ago

Nuts, the 2019 is not available out here. Just 2020 and possibly 2018. Have you tried those?

John, yes I have had several bottles of the ‘18 (actually bought a case) have none left but the ‘18 should be great with a bit of age on it. Wish I had one left.

Light golden in color with a very aromatic nose.

Ful bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate and spicy. Soft and smooth.

Showing citrus, yellow apples, spices, pears, ginger, light marzipan and herbs.

Tangy finish with limes and almonds.

This is a tasty Viognier from Arizona. Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel. Soft and elegant.

This 4 year old is surprisingly still fresh. Easy drinking and good by itself as a sipping wine.

I had a few vintages of this wine, and my favorite so far was the 2019.

I paired it with steamed Abalone topped with fresh ginger.

Limited Production Santa Barbara County Chardonnay 2020

This yellow wine has a somewhat muted nose of citrus, minerals and apricots, with just a hint of vanilla. The palate is far more expressive, showing a beautiful array of lemons, limes, tangerines and green apples. The oak treatment is nicely done, spicy but not over-the-top buttery. The label had me hoping that the wine inside the bottle would be good, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was much better than good. This wine is not simply inexpensive - it’s a bargain. — 8 months ago

Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a tasty one from Mount Veeder.

Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Gentle nose with black and red fruits, light oak, herbs, tobacco leaf, light vanilla, licorice and black pepper.

Medium plus in body, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, black cherries, light oak, dark chocolates, peppercorn, coffee and light cola.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Mount Veeder in Napa Valley.

Elegant, soft and smooth. Not 'in your face' kind of wine, which is nice to see out of Napa.

Good right out of the bottle, and much better after 3 hours of airtime.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Will be nice to revisit it in 5 years and see how it evolved.

Good by itself as a sipping wine and good with food. I paired it with a Ribeye steak.

A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot. Aged in (50% new) French oak barrels for 30 months. A tiny production of only 4 barrels.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

Full bodied, smooth and elegant, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate and spicy, with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cranberries.

This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Lake County in California. Fruit forward and rich. Smooth and elegant.

Shows nice complexity already, although still young. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Opulent and delectable. Delicious and engaging.

Good by itself as a sipping wine. Good right out of the bottle, and better with some air time.

A blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot. Aged in French oak barrels. A small production of only 300 cases.
