Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1999

Dark scarlet tawny. Barely translucent. Enticing, deep nose. Notes of raspberries, bing cherries, rhubarb, pepper, menthol and some tart strawberries. Noticeable fruit in the mouth, but it’s holding something back. Feels like it wants to be impactful but it’s too shy to announce it’s presence. Has a nice coolness with a hint of menthol in the nose and finish. There is probably upside in waiting a few more years on these, and if you open one today give it ample hours of decanter time. — 4 days ago

Clos de la Commaraine Pommard 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2010

Bottle variation! I bought a six pack original wood case - from the set of six bottles just this the last one was truly great!????! - I don’t get it Jadot is usually reliable. This last bottle is good - cherry, allspice, honey 🍯 flavor at the back palate - tannins almost fully resolved soft mouthfeel, — 19 days ago

La Grande Roche Montagny 1er Cru Chardonnay 2018

Not sure why all the haters on delectable for this one. Nice white burgundy for $25. Almost would have guessed Chablis but the more exuberant juiciness and relative lack of minerality provides at least some indication it’s not that. Unbesmirched by oak (in a very good way). — 10 days ago

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Hermitage Syrah 1995

2021/2/27 with delivery from Joel Robuchon. Many of the greatest aged red wines (with many of the greatest meals) that I’ve had have been Chave Hermitage, and here was another. The great Syrahs of the Northern Rhône become so magical with age - it enhances them as much or more than any other wine - and this is as good as they come. Astonishing aromas of roasted game, olives, black berries and spices, deep and rich yet translucent and fresh on the palate. — 2 days ago

Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2003

Deep dark tawny. Hot nose. Notes of cherry kirsch, moist dark soil, some wood and some rhubarb. Strong and powerful in the mouth. Lots of fruit with low acidity. Alcohol is noteworthy. One dimensional in its delivery. Typical for the vintage. Ok at best. — 17 days ago

Les Chaillots Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2009

Aged for about 10 months in oak barrels (35% new). Ruby with aromas of bright red fruit and floral spice, Pinot at its finest. On the palate, complex concentrated fruit, cherry and raspberry with oaky notes, floral and sweet herbs. Developed round tannins, nice acidity and balance ending with a touch of earthy mineral tones. Very Enjoyable! Still tasting well! — 14 days ago
