2020 vintage. The last vintage for this wine as it was bought from the Bécot family ( owners of Beauséjour-Bécot) by the owners of Haut-Brion in 2021. It will be incorporated into Château Quintus (which is a merger of 3 estates: Tertre-Daugay, L'Arrosée and Grand-Pontet). Many Saint-Emilion estates disappeared, incorporated into other estates, some very good wines sadly disappeared like Curé Bon La Madeleine (now into Canon), Cadet-Piola (now into Soutard) and so on. The fact that Grand Cru Classés can legally be incorporated into Premier Grands Crus Classés tells you that you have to take the classification with more than a grain of salt. A bit shy on the nose, even after a few hours. Medium-bodied, nice value for a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé. — 3 years ago
60% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay, 15% Meunier primarily sourced from grands and Premiers crus. 60% reserve wine. Notes of peach and brioche. Dry, fresh. Subtly chalky notes — 5 years ago
🏅 Rating 91+/100 (4,15⭐)
Yellow color. Bigger volume, complex. Nuanced with secondary aromas, richer. Oak adds layers and nicely integrates with wine. Stone fruits, touch of almonds. Good balance between oak and steel maturation. Very Chablis with signature acidity and salinity. Balanced and charming.
Bougros lies at the very western end of the Grands Crus area, 130-170m on fairly deep marl and clay terrain with a SW exposure.
William Fèvre owns 6.2ha out of 12.6ha. Over 50% of the wine are matured in old French oak barrels for 6mo and then transferred in steel tanks. Total maturation takes about 15mo.

Some slight oak traces and lemon on the palate. A wine with some reduction but also that is delicious with good concentration , minerality and nice balance overall. Lacks depth and finesse of the best Grands Crus but still a good bottle. 90-91
90-91 — 6 years ago
Drank 1/18/19 at the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux event in Miami. All wines from the 2016 Vintage.
Tasting pour, no formal notes taken. Most of these wines are very tight, and will require 5-15 years to really come together. Many will likely improve a few points with time.
Delicious dark fruit, but I preferred the Pichon Lalande. A stunning wine nonetheless. Will age many years. — 7 years ago

This was tied with the Beychevelle for my favorite St Julien of the night. Complex dark fruit with big tannins, showing better than the Leoville Barton at this stage. — 7 years ago

— a year ago
These Pierre Gimonnet champagnes are always of the highest quality from the Côte des Blancs and with terrific prices. An original member of the Club Trésors de Champagne, the Special Club, and an easy buy, each and every time.
The color of starlight on a cloudless night. A surplus of tiny bubbles and persistent perlage throughout. A very clean and focused nose showcasing lemon peel, pears, and sea salt. Vanilla custard and pronounced smoke. Hazelnuts and freshly baked dough with a nice dose of spice. Apples of the green and red varieties.
Some love has to be shown to the labels. Classy metal front label and an ultra informative back label. Pure Chardonnay from the Grand Crus of Cramant (59%) and Chouilly (25%) with the rest coming from the Premier Cru terroir of Cuis. The acidity here is outrageous and highly focused, really beautiful. Very pure and creamy. Disgorged in December of 2019 with an Extra Brut dosage of 4 g/l.
Everything carries over to the palate. A very complex and harmonious champagne. Fresh and bold with more apples and spice. Strong minerality and yeast here. Long, enduring finish. This definitely lives up to the standards of Gimonnet and the Special Club. Don’t sleep on these 14’s, they’re alive and kicking. — 5 years ago

My runner up for left bank WOTN. All of the Pauillac wines tasted were fantastic, but this was a bit above most. Waves of dark fruit, lots of complexity, and fantastic length. Firm structure, but still beautiful at this stage. — 7 years ago

Pale lemon color.
Aromas of toast, lemon.
Dry. Flavors of green apple, lemon, mineral. Vibrant!

Black fruits, liquorice, pepper and animal smoke notes. Racy Saint Joseph, on youth. Nice delicacy, without the persistence of the greatest wines in the region. To be tested again in 2 years, to taste it on nuanced notes.
— 5 years ago
Ripe apple, floral, no noticeable oak and great acid. — 5 years ago

Amount disgorged: 16,388 bottles in October 2008 - Dosage: 4g/l (No Reserve Wine)
Winery Notes:
"The 1990 Vintage is a blend of 17 different Crus, all classified as Grands and Premiers Crus.
Black grapes make up two thirds of the blend: 56% Pinot Noir, from the Montagne de Reims and the Grande Vallée de la Marne, and 11% Meunier, from the Premiers Crus in the west of the Montagne de Reims.
The blend is completed with 33% Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs and, to a lesser extent, from the Montagne de Reims." — 6 years ago

WOTN for me. Pauillac also seemed to be the highlight of this vintage. A stunning wine with silky black and purple fruit backed by firm tannins, but a bit more approachable than many, and a step above the Pichon Baron in my opinion. — 7 years ago

More citrus, lemon oil, flint. Still a very fine mousse but not quite at the same level as the 12 — 9 days ago
