Cave Spring

Cave Spring Vineyard "CSV" Riesling 2015

Founded by brothers Thomas and Leonard Pennachetti, Cave Spring has become a benchmark estate for several of Niagara's core varieties. My favorites, however, are their Riesling. Their CSV, coming from the oldest blocks of Cave Spring's estate property on the Beamsville Bench, represents the pinnacle of their dry Rieslings. Intensely concentrated, with a pillar of acidity and gripping stony flavors, the wine finds a taut balance between its nervy salinity and pure apple and pear skin flavors. — 6 years ago

Domaine Saint André de Figuière

Atmosphère Côtes de Provence Extra Brut Rosé 2014

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our guest conductor David Newman is leading a live-to-picture performance of Leonard Bernstein’s score for “West Side Story”, originally directed by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins, and with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
For live-to-picture productions, the orchestra performs the entire movie score in real time as the film unspools. (Vocals, dialogue and effects are isolated from the original music track.) The BSO installed very fancy and large LED screens on the perimeter of the Shed facing the Lawn, amazing!

Very nice light Salmon color. Nice fruit, 50% Cinsault & 50% Grenache. Very tasty, much better than their still rosé.

Moselblumchen 2011

Sweet but not too sweet. A little Sirup taste to it but fades quickly. Not bitter on the finish. For $6 headed back to buy whatever else they have. — 6 years ago

Koehler-Ruprecht

Kabinett trocken Pinot Noir 2017

Tasty young Riesling (Trocken). Not sweet almost bone dry as it hits your palate but shows its RS on the finish. Stone fruit, a little citrus (mostly lemon) on the nose. Very little petrol. Good mouth feel. Enjoyed with omakase at Shoji at 69 Leonard during one of Derek’s farewell nights. Also, enjoyed after a decent amount of sake. — 3 years ago

Domaine du Bel Air

Clos Nouveau Bourgueil Cabernet Franc 2009

2009 Domaine Du Bel Air Bourgueil “Clos Nouveau” and The Versatones on a humid Wednesday night. An overlooked 1950’s R&B/Doo-Wop Band which grew from the legendary Leonard Du Paur Infantry Chorus. If you are reading this and enjoy late 50’s/early 60’s Soul, seek it out. The wine is more concentrated than one might expect from the appellation, but is a ripe smoky cherry glass of delicious. Great things made better together! — 6 years ago
