Lovely cherry notes, medium finish, what a juicy delicious wine after a couple hours' decant! — 11 days ago
Les Amoureux by Xavier Vignon, another single-vintage wine in the Arcane portfolio, is a beautiful embodiment of the southern Rhône from the spectacular 2016 vintage. A blend of 80% Grenache, with the 20% split between Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Caladoc, and sourced from the AOCs of Gigondas, Lirac, Vacqueyras, Beaumes-de-Venise and Rasteau, it’s a fragrant but powerful wine that balances bright red fruit, dollops of garrigue and a smokey character with a good amount of acidity and tannin characteristic of a young Rhône wine. A basic Côtes du Rhône given the blend of multiple terroirs, this is the finest of Vignon’s wines that I’ve tasted to date and it should age well for the next decade. — a month ago
Fresh gourmet wine. notes of violet and black berries like blueberries. Also evocation of stewed pear (due to Mourvedre) which goes well with the generous Grenache, which itself makes the link with the Syrah which brings relief and depth. Nice overall balance — 5 months ago
Spices on the nose. Tannins but not acidic. Light red fruit and cherry notes. Really enjoyed it — 11 days ago

Xavier Vignon’s Arcane l’Etoile, a multi-vintage blend from 2015, 16 & 17 drawn from several plots in Beaumes-de-Venise, is a dark and alluring wine with saturated blackberry, dark chocolate and strong espresso notes. Not soft, but also fairly mild in acidity with moderate tannin towards the finish. But this is no plush southern Rhône wine and feels almost slightly off-balance at the moment - austere, even - and perhaps needs a few years to harmonise. Quite a hot finish. Potential, though. — a month ago
Nice peppery note.
