Surprisingly tannic given the Merlot blend. Gives some solid barrel oakiness and appears to punch beyond its weight class. Will drink again! — 4 years ago
Unusual color for sure. Like a cross between a rose and a red wine. Nose of spice, flint, dusty cherry fruit, citrus rind (orange), tree bark and some nice minerality. Rustic and charming with a hint of etherealness. Some sweaty, feral notes as well. Palate is fresh, uncomplicated and so juicy. Lithe and pretty with a lovely persistence. Nice mouthfeel and elegant tannins. Great freshness, acidity and persistence. Just a pretty when with a hint of rusticity. Love it. This really comes together with air. Also should be drunk slightly chilled. Maybe cellar temp. It’s much better. Textured and deep. 9.1 to 9.2. Nice complexity develops as well. Lacey. Really good. — 6 years ago

Una curiosidad de 14€. Nota comercial Lavinia:
— 3 years ago
Super light and refreshing. Good acid and aggressively bitter, reminiscent of ruby red grapefruit peel. Looks like a rose, but drinks more like an orange wine. Pairs great with Italian red sauce dishes. — 6 years ago
Fits no category. Clairet may be the closest thing. The color is like nothing you’ve seen before - glowing spiced orange or hot cinnamon candies. Maria Lopez de Heredia calls it onion skin. There is, of course, oxidation and it’s so well interwoven that it feels natural, part of the wine's process.
Salted caramel granny smith apple and apricots and sweet peaches and briny sherry vinegar. And unimaginably light on its feet and chatty, just like Maria.
Drink at cellar temp and over a few days. And yes, lives up to the hype. — 7 years ago

Raspberry yogurt. A bit of tannins. — 8 years ago
Le Pech d’André, Caracole, Clairet d’Aramon Nature. Pays d’Hérault, Languedoc. Stumped the experts with this one. It’s like a light red-colored rosé, 95% Aramon noir, 5% Grenache noir, a bit cloudy, freshly grapey aroma and flavor. Fairly intrusive skin astringency initially, so decant at last a couple of hours. Drank great 24 hours later. First time drinking this variety. Not as impressive as some Sandlands heirloom varietals like Cinsault, but I’d like to try some more Aramon. — 2 years ago

Drank 12/7/20.
A selection from the Costco Wine Advent Calendar.
From 325 ml.
Bordeaux Clairet. Though technically red wine, this looks like a rose due to limited skin contact. Drinks like rose as well. Nose more pronounced than the average rose with red cherry and strawberry. Similar flavors, with a touch of pepper and light tannin. Average finish.

Ok with mushroom Ravioli, bit would be nicer with a roasted chicken or possibly thanksgiving fare. — 6 years ago
What a great, slightly complex and earthy wine. From Ken’s, $17 — 6 years ago
This is a great wine. Weightier than a typical rose, almost as heavy as a chard or viognier. The acid has mellowed in the bottle some, but there’s plenty of structure to let the flavors come through. Rose water, raspberry, and strawberry notes with just a hint of tannin. Fantastic with a rich and spice-heavy chicken dish. — 7 years ago

Light on its feet with classic Syrah game and pepper notes plus something a bit woodsy.
