Lazy Susan Ranch

The Vineyardist Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Same comments. Ripe fruit forward. Super soft tannins, silky in the mouth. Very smooth drinking. — 7 days ago

Château Loupiac-Gaudiet

Loupiac Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2003

Vintage 2003 | I find this Loupiac wine incredible good. While aging it keeps a fresh character, not showing age. It has a mesmerizing apricot smell and awesome balance. Really a gem in the cellar that gives instant joy when opening a bottle. Like this september Sunday when I made a Reine Claude Plums Crumble. A marriage made in heaven. — 4 years ago

Hot with alcohol. Balanced, more savory forest floor, crushed berry, earth. — 4 months ago

C.V.N.E. (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España)

Imperial Gran Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2004

Last Sunday lunch with Roast Lamb. A 20 year old Rioja fitted the bill nicely. A blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo. Aged in new French and American oak for 24 months. Aromatics of tobacco leaf, plum, ashphalt and a bit of tar. A medicinal note the following night. The palate is medium to full bodied with berry, plum and liquorice. Resolved Tannins - quite fluid. This was Wine Spectators No. 1 wine for 2013 and now drinking at its peak but could go on for another 5 years on the evidence of this superb wine. — 8 months ago

Bodega Matarromera

Crianza Ribera del Duero Tempranillo 2017

I had dismissed this wine a couple of years ago; I thought it was a little week, thought I could find better value elsewhere. To my surprise, my good friend brings this bottle to Easter Sunday Diner, and turned out to be one of the best vintages I’ve tried. Fuller body, richer, and composed. Cheers to trying bad wines again. — 4 years ago

Love and Squalor

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2017

Love this one! It is all red fruit with this slight pencil box (not cigar box, it’s that box with your pencils, pens, crayons and gum erasers and maybe a sneaky piece of Bubbilicious). It feels studious and decorous but it likes to chill on a Sunday and day drink. — 5 years ago
