Pascal et Nicolas Reverdy – Sancerre Rosé “Terre de Maimbray” 2016
Loire Valley, France 🇫🇷
Overview
From the limestone-rich slopes of Maimbray, Reverdy crafts this 100% Pinot Noir rosé, showing how Sancerre can shine not only in whites but also in elegant, age-worthy rosés. Though Sancerre is world-famous for Sauvignon Blanc, about 20% of its vineyards are planted to Pinot Noir, which can be vinified as red or rosé. This bottle demonstrates just how gracefully a Loire rosé can evolve with time.
Aromas & Flavors
Wild strawberry, raspberry, and redcurrant with rose petals and dried herbs. With age, subtle tones of candied orange peel and a light spice develop, adding dimension without overpowering.
Mouthfeel
Silky and rounded, with acidity still intact to keep it lively. Medium-bodied with a savory edge, balancing freshness and maturity.
Food Pairing
Perfect alongside charcuterie, grilled salmon, or roast chicken. The evolved texture also makes it a great partner for mushroom risotto or lentil dishes.
Verdict
A rare aged rosé that proves Pinot Noir from Sancerre can deliver both finesse and staying power. Still vibrant after 9 years, this wine highlights Reverdy’s skill and the region’s versatility beyond Sauvignon Blanc. — 3 months ago
Intense and complex on the nose with a wide range of aromas, including fruits (citrus and white fruit), flowers (honeysuckle) and iodine notes, which give off an impression of freshness. This airy and delicate wine of surprising length is characterized by high purity of taste, and a long and non‑saturating finish — 4 months ago

Welcoming the Holiday Season ⛄️❄️🎅🎁 Cheers!🥂
Previous notes apply except this tastes sweeter now that I have fully shifted to Extra Brut. Pre EB purchase. Also, EB in 375’s are more difficult to locate.
The balance will be really good w/ Key Lime Tart later! 🍋🟩 — 5 days ago
