La Fleur Morange

Petite Fleur

KG3 Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Dark ruby purple. Abundant nose of cassis, light tarry vanilla, and fines herbs. Medium full palate echoes the nose. Medium acidity. Medium plus tannins. Like a soft velvet wave over the tongue. Just enough structure for hearty winter fare, but not so much that it would overwhelm in warmer weather. Drink now through 2025. — 9 days ago

Barrat Masson

Fleur de Craie Extra-Brut Champagne Chardonnay

Even better a year+ later. Nose still reminds me of chenin blanc but palate is more complex. It’s tropical, salinity, just ripe stone fruit, herbs, and enough citrus to cook fish. Amazing and a huge favorite at Christmas Eve dinner because it cut through the rich food in a really nice way. 2014, 2018 disgorged. — a month ago

Fleury Pere & Fils

Fleur de l'Europe Brut Nature Champagne

Slightly disappointed given the recent good run I’ve had with Fleury. Light stone fruit and crisp acidity on the finish. No real depth vs some of the other cuvées I’ve recently enjoyed. — 6 days ago

Fleur du Cap

Bergkelder Selection Noble Late Harvest Chenin Blanc 1990

A surprisingly good late harvest Chenin Blanc from South Africa. Impressive. Apricot, toffee, honey. Beautiful balance. Not unctuous. Rich texture and depth set off by just the right acidity. Nice stuff. — 23 days ago

Delicious. Non-oxidized style of Jura Chard. A little oak, tart apple and good acidity. — 3 days ago

Domaine Serene

Fleur de Lis Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

Sublime. Just a wonderful pinot. Perfect thing to bring out at the end of a particularly challenging and sad year. Salute! Cheers! Slainte! Happy Days! This is pretty damn good and the best is yet to come. Stay well. — 23 days ago

La Fleur d'Arthus

St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

Muted cherry, earth & cedar nose, body still rich & balanced with long finish — 22 days ago

Château Fleur Haut Gaussens

Supérieur Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

This bish has no right being as banging as it is for the price point (<$20). Chewy though still kinda tight on the tannins, but the foundation is all there—plum berry and currant, a streak of herbal goodness on some earthy-ass dry soil dusted with like cocoa and oak. — a month ago
