Abrasado Terroir Selection Malbec 2019

Keeping on the studies, this time with this VERY aromatic malbec from Uco Valley. It was quite a bargain for about 50-60 reais in a local market...

I wasn't under the best lighting but had the impression of a very dark ruby to red, also clear with some slow tears (alcohol average(+)).

At the first sniff, I smelled a heavy amount of alcohol ... then some lightly oak, red fruits (wasn't capable of identifying which one) and black fruits (which later I realized it was definetely plum).

At the mouth, a medium (-) body, with some highlights of acidity. Later on it became more tannic with some vanilla showing up (also in the aroma), but it shadowed the other aromas.

I had it with some brie and fine herbs. Already curious to try it again with some parrilla!

Altos Las Hormigas

Terroir Valle De Uco Malbec 2016

I’ve been on a QPR kick lately with this $11 Costco #valledeuco #malbec. Expected bramble fruit, leather notes on the nose but the fresh acidity, balance and restraint on the palate are much appreciated. — a month ago

L'or D'eugene Brut Blanc de Noirs

Small hints of strawberry, tons of apple , pear. Almost a hint of pink on the golden color. Great balance of mild cream, toastiness, acidity and minerality. 12% — 3 days ago

Gérard Bertrand

Grand Terroir Les Aspres Red Rhone Blend 2016

‘Grand Terroir’ on label in cursive. That’s setting yourself up eh? Great blend though. One of my favorites. SMG (think GSM is more common here on the West Coast). Dark brooding, berry color. Aroma blends wet soil and river banks with some gunpowder and cherry jelly. Maybe toasted sweet bread as well. And a sage-oregano-basil thing. Flavors are full, strange in a good way, and complex. Minerality of the nose comes. Also has toasty side. Grilled pork chops over a campfire with plum relish? (That would sure pair well). Finish has the licorice/anise and herbal liquor thing in there with the ‘cherry pit’ (I read that about this wine, I think in Wine Advocate). This is lovely wine of Southern France that was such a great deal at Grocery Outlet ($5.50 at the 20% off sale I believe) that I bought 3-4 bottles to have on hand. — 25 days ago
