I did not get to write notes on the last three wines, just scores. We had to get to Russell Hamilton.

However, I wish I had been able to write them as these were the wines I was looking forward to spending some time on.

Peter & Andrew Allan of Crystallum are the third generation of winemakers and sons of the man who pioneered Pinot Noir winemaking in the Hemel-en-Aarde which; is what drew me to the region that is about another hour plus SE of Stellenbosch and a very good area to produce Pinot Noir.

Shy nose with hints of pie, honey. Creamy and smooth on the palate, with a subtle aftertaste of cereals, frangipane at the tip of the tongue. So nice. — 2 years ago

First winery on day two in Sonoma was Donelan Family Wines in Santa Rosa with Meredith. First red up was the Two Brothers Pinot Noir which comes from four separate vineyards in Sonoma County; 41% from Steiner Ranch, 26% from Walker Vine Hill, 21% from Devoto and 12% from Perli. Namesake is for the two sons, Tripp and Cushing. Aged for 18 months in 17% new French oak. 1,630 cases produced.

Medium garnet red with some ruby in the core. A touch of greenery on the nose with some twigs and strawberries. A touch of tobacco and cedar too. Medium acidity (6.5/10) with a light plus to medium body. Layered palate with notes of cinnamon, violet, white pepper, plums and a touch of mushrooms. Medium plus finish with a little bit of iron coming through. Drink till 2021.

It’s a light whisky. I get eggnog and nutmeg flavors so obviously creamy and smooth. Little to no nose but I am having it with ice as opposed to straight. Finish is also light but given the proof expected. — 6 years ago

Single malt scotch in various brands have become extremely popular. But what do you get if you take 40 single malts and carefully blend them into one bottle? The answer is Dewar's White Label scotch. The company boasts that "White Label " is the best selling brand in America. I'm not a big scotch guy, but this is what I stock in my home bar. Taste of oak, spice and honey.
