Shockingly light ruby colored, completely see through, med (-) bodied weight, was really expecting a wine lacking flavor, but this was fantastic! Nose was screaming southern France, elegant, impeccable red fruit mingled with freshly turned soil and white pepper. Stopped analyzing this wine and just enjoyed it. I would have liked to have tasted this wine, but my son played an April Fool’s Day trick on me.
He received this bottle from a friend and it was already uncorked. He wanted me to taste it because I love Pinot noir and I told him this was a good one! He said he would pour me a small sample to taste, and out came purple colored water! He really got me this year! He and his fiancée said yes, it was very good, they had it with their supper the night before! Now I have to get a real bottle to try! — 5 years ago

Blend of two varietals from Italy (Friuli and Alto Adige) rarely grown in US. 37 cases made. Ruby red, very good clarity, medium pigment extraction. Red fruit aromas, flavors of pomegranate, tart cherry, black currant and a touch of plum, not quite cola. Lots of tannins, seed and skin, so decant at least one hour, preferably longer. Good body, lighter style in terms of alcohol, nice balance of fruit, tannins and acid. Props to the winemaking team at Illahe for staying experimental and testing new varieties’ adaptability to growing conditions in Oregon. — 3 years ago
