Another beautiful champagne for the price. Crisp and delicious — 7 years ago
Char-brown with uneven horizon, stacked cappuccino bouffant, that drops slowly to reveal spooky Spanish moss lacing. Smells like werewolf pee on dead wood. To be more friendly: mint mocha and pine sap on shiitakes. A coffee element shines sporadically. Additional mushrooms converge: morel and Reishi. Expansive, if just medium-heavy mouthfeel with coffee syrup, unsweetened bakers chocolate, Reishi coffee, beef Bourgogne scrapings in a grappa reduction. Nutmeg essence. — 7 years ago
The nose is overloaded with kirsch, campfire and coffee notes. Palate displays deep extraction and sweetness, but lacks complexity. It’s somewhat one-dimensional, but that dimension is good, nonetheless. Good black fruit profile on the mid-palate, with a sweet, viscous finish. We’re happy at the $49 price.

Spaghetti dinner with guests, big hit! — 8 years ago
Broad white flowers and lime on the nose. A hint of apples (premox on the horizon?) but a broad complex palate that’s quite developed. Lacks a little of the puligny definition you’d want but fun right now. Given the appley notes I’d check in with this soon or it could be another sad example of Leflaive’s descent into premox. A good wine right now. — 8 years ago
Earthy, mushrooms, leather, cherries, little bit of cinnamon jolly rancher, herbs. Haven’t had a Chianti in a long time. Nice to revisit. Nice long weekend is on the horizon. Hope everyone is staying safe with so many disasters happening all at one. ☹️ — 5 years ago

Has set sail and approaching the horizon... — 7 years ago
Hungary - no wonder the nectar from Tokaji grapes are mentioned in your National Anthem. Yes, I did my research, after this slick, juicy, drop had me weak at the knees. Well balanced acidity paired with a medium bodied concentration, you’ll feel as if a delicate lick of butter, watermelon and lime is shimmying its way across all corners of your mouth - find where it visited by following the tingling tracks with your tongue. Anthropomorphism would unveil a suave talking Eastern European man called Ambrus, who’d need no introduction. Not to your parents, your friends, your dog, nor your gold fish. This, he too, knows. Green, steady eyes, tanned skin, a strong will, and a smile that’s so good, it’s cruel. A man they’d all love, but would hate you to date. Someone who’d stroke your head, but look to the horizon. A man that enjoys all company, but has no plan to stay around. That’s perfect - too much of a good thing is arduous. Drink up, and look forward to introducing Ambrus, to people yet to know his charm. — 7 years ago
Lovely deep fruit. Very intense and coiled steel with buckets of minerality and drive. There’s a whiff of stewed apple here. I see premox on the horizon, but this is fun now. Should be better in 5 years but certainly not this bottle. — 8 years ago
Been looking forward to this one. Initially tight and closed on the nose. Beautiful violet colour and comes to life after 2 hours in the decanter. Lots of depth and structure but not overly sweet like some extracted wines. Smooth with blackcurrant, cherry, lavender and marshmallow on the palate. Tannins are supporting the wine but are subtly integrated and allow the finish to be long and rich. I’m sure it’s going to get better and better as the evening progresses but at the moment it may be gone before the last rays of sun disappear on the horizon, highly recommended for now and the future. — 8 years ago

Wonderful wine. Herbal (thyme) and floral notes on the nose, and stone fruit on the mid palette: like peaches on the horizon. Long clean mineral finish. — 6 years ago

Great depth of flavor for a Pinot — 7 years ago
Big mint chocolate, spruce, damson reduction, cinnamon dusted cedar, ripest blackberry, violet, vanilla bean and even a shadow of juniper on this warm and fuzzy Howell Mountain nose. Medium mouthfeel echoes the damson, presenting bay leaf, smoky raspberry, a touch of graphite and blueberry skins in a tightly rolled and endlessly layered sub-strata that stretches to the horizon. #Trio #bravantevineyards #howell #howellmountain #napavalleyred #napawine #Napa — 8 years ago
Reddish amber, clear, bright and mostly translucent. Great nose with notes of cranberry, dried herbs, plum, white pepper and a little smoke. In the mouth this is instantly open for business. Silky and smooth. Lovely fruit, balanced with wonderful structure and energy. Long lasting finish. This wine continues to perform, with no sign of decline on the horizon. — 8 years ago

This 2014 took about a half hour to shed some of its bottle funk and open up to a very lithe, whispery and extremely seductive wine. Hints of classic dried roses, with a bit of herbs and “tar”. Delicate on the verge of fading but lovely. A sunset just as it slips into the horizon. — 6 months ago
