The Dead Arm McLaren Vale Shiraz 2008

An excellent full bodied Shiraz from a warm year in McLaren Vale and South Australia in general. Red and black fruits with a tarry creosote note as in previous notes. Rich and flavoursome on the full bodied palate but not heavy - very well done. The Dead Arm is the top red cuvée from d’Arenberg. Drinking at its peak. — 15 days ago

One of my very first appreciations of Shiraz.

Bedrock Wine Co.

Dolinsek Ranch Heritage Red Blend 2015

Another rollercoaster experience with Bedrock but happily this was on the up side; maybe 10 years is the key. Opened, tasted put in an aerator and went to dinner. The wine was excellent start to finish and did not seem to change much. A lot of dark fruits all around, smooth finish and just drinking great. Too busy at dinner with friends to have detailed notes. — a month ago

The Footbolt McLaren Vale Shiraz 2021

Dark purple. Some menthol in the nose. Light tannins in this vintage. Concentrated spicy fruit. Nice example of an Aussie Shiraz. Would be excellent barbecue or burger wine. — 2 months ago

Quinta do Vale Meão

Meandro Douro Red Blend 2020

Dark red purple. Inviting nose and medium full, fruit-forward (for a European) palate of blueberry-blackberry compote. Bright medium acidity and medium minus tannins that mostly assert back-palate. Dark and slightly bitter finish (Touriga Nacional showing). Fine example of Portuguese non-Porto red. Ready for hearty entrées like roasted beef or pork. Drink now through 2028. — 13 days ago
