Elegant new world Chardonnay made in one of the best NZ wine region of Hawkes bay. Slightly oaked that brings the vanilla out along with a butter popcorn balanced with citrusy grapefruit notes. One interesting note: hints of daiginjo sake on the nose; perhaps it’s the white flower or lychees aromas. Nice new world white. — 6 years ago
Classic Sonoma cab. Needs some air, great with grilled ribeye — 7 years ago
A Kiwi SB with a citric punch, this excellent white has a floral nose, lemongrass and lime flavors up front, leading into a palate cleansing lemon zest finish. It went well with blackened tilapia and steamed green beans. — 8 years ago
Great balance of fruit and oak. Very complex with stunning stone fruits and great minerality fantastic length and poise. — 9 years ago
Possibly the best Sauvignon Blanc I’ve ever had. Very smooth, tasty. Not too tart. Well balanced. — 7 months ago
This has one of those brilliant, well polished high def née world wine noses.
Subtle fruit, yet so perfect the aroma.
A touch of salinity leads to classic Cab fruit, that hint of almond, those delicately placed petals on the palette, persimmon in the end game, with minty acidity and well focused tannin.
I’d say this wine has come together perfectly with time. — 5 years ago
Totally love Gimblett Gravels Reds & this is one of them. Beautiful array of dark berry fruits, dark chocolate, a spec of bakery spices, a dash of savoury goodness and fresh silky tannins. — 6 years ago
Others say it’s oaky... I get a little but not in an off-putting way. For the $, this is incredibly solid. Perfect for Thanksgiving or any white meat bird. — 8 years ago
Always good to have a taste of home, and very little does that better than Gimblett Gravels Syrah. Great dark fruit, showing excellent leathery tones. — 8 years ago
Aged beautifully. No hard edges at all, tannins are velvet. Eucalyptus, dry pine, cassis, super rich nose. Bright summer fruits, blackcurrant, fig and cedar. A delight. — 2 months ago
Very smooth with subtle fruity flavours light and refreshing — 6 years ago
Very pleasant Sauvignon Blanc, light and dry and not grassy like typical Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs — 7 years ago
Day one of shoot a wrap. Woo hoo. Celebration with agency. Amazing day. — 8 years ago
Nose of peppercorns savoury spices and minerals Medium weight with plummy minerality coming through on the palate. Hawkes Bay NZ Syrah has always been a favourite of mine starting with Te Mata's Bull Nose Syrah 10 years ago. This Salo is made by leading Aussie winemaker Steve Flamsteed of Giant Steps in the Yarra Valley Tasted again 36 weeks later. Lacked a little mid palate fruit when compared to the Mt Langhi Cliff Edge which was a similar cool climate peppery Shiraz. I preferred the Langhi. — 9 years ago

From Hawke’s Bay! A gem of a north island region I taste so many winners from. The nose is reductive struck match with sea spray and lemon rind. The palate is enviably smooth and crisp as I wish my sheets to be. Oak lily’s with vanilla bean joining tart lemon curd and honeydew. The right balance between luxury china and clean white plates why am I referencing so many housewares in this review — a month ago
