2006 Krug ‘Brut’ Champagne- The 2006 Krug ‘Brut’ Champagne is a resounding success from this warm vintage in Champagne. Both high toned and rich aromatically, kumquat purée with shades of nutmeg infused Challah bread and baked Bosc pear all take their shape in the glass. The rich, almost oily, texture delightfully coats the mid-palate. Ripe white grapefruit, sourdough bread and ginger flavors all sing in harmony on this expressive palate. As good as the texture is, the highly gratifying, minute-long finish, completes this scintillating new wine. While this beautiful vintage Champagne is showing marvelously in its youth, it will have an exceedingly long life in the cellar. Drink 2019-2035- 97 — 5 years ago

Treacle, blackstrap molasses, tar, dark chocolate, pipe tobacco, black raisin, medjool dates, myrrh, ganache, opium-coffee, and ginseng scented. Amorphous mouthfeel, runs from thick and round to acid-buoyed on the end of a floral stalk. Dark brown sugar without the sweet, fig, clove, allspice, a little Nuóć Mam, toffee, cinnamon, nutmeg and gingerbread. This is mouthcoating breakfast fare begging for luxardo cherries or lingonberries, spicy sausage, rye toast, and smoky paprika. Gotta give it to the civet! — 5 years ago

Light straw , very young looking . Constant very fine perlage . Quite closed at first then crushed rocks , lemon peel , ginger , white flowers , brioche . On the palate good richness and intensity , lemon , orange rind , buttered bread , touch of roast nuts . Very fine mineral tinged , intense finish . This needs time and will improve over the next 10 years or so and last well a further 5-10 . A good follow up to the 2014 , this shows more backward and will take even longer to reach its peak. Perhaps a little less detailed and precise than the very mineral 2014 but that might just be a question of needing more time in bottle. — 4 months ago

A well balanced wine offering ripe apples, pear juice, yellow cherries, lemon peel, roasted and grinded hazelnuts, sourdough, cream, butter, white roses, white tea with jasmine and a complex mix of mushroom, earth and stemmed ginger. Super delicious — 2 months ago
