Château d`issan

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

Really nice with 3+ hours of air. Excited to try in a few years as it continues to balance out with time. Perfect pairing with burgers. Quite fruit forward at this point but with a real vein of fine minerality. Delicious. — 12 days ago

Le Clos des Chênes Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2018

Gorgeous oak free 2018 Volnay Premier Cru enjoyed with finger food while enjoying this year’s Super Bowl. No notes this time, but it is an amazing pour. — 3 months ago

Il Fait Soif Côtes du Rhône Grenache Syrah 2024

8.9

No ratings on this wine in a while it seems. The 2024 vintage is quite quaffable, although more tannin than I’d expect in a carbonic wine. Perhaps semi-carbonic, with some time on that 100% whole cluster following the carbonic maceration? A very enjoyable wine though, fruit forward as you’d expect from carbonic but with more structure and grip. Well made. — 3 months ago

Les Rouges des Baties Crozes-Hermitage Syrah 2015

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. Black plastic cork; the standard for Dard et Ribo. The 2015 “Les Rouges des Baties” pours a deep, dull ruby/purple with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of wild black brambles, oil cured olive, roasted meat, purple flowers, black pepper, a mix of organic and inorganic earth and dried herbs. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. An utterly beautiful expression of Crozes-Hermitage and this worked really well with goose from South Dakota. I’m smitten. Drink now through 2035. — 3 months ago

3-D Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2021

Beautiful nose on this, remembering why I bought this while in the tasting room in Sta. Rita Hills (nice little spot in Los Olivos, highly recommend). Med+ intensity on the nose with bright cherry and strawberry. A bit of cedar/vanilla, but not much. Floral notes that almost turn to candy or runts. Nice on the palate too with a big pop of red fruit, med+ acidity and nice fine, integrated tannins. Long finish that sort of turns from sweet to tart cherry. Just a really nice wine. I scored a 93 but guessing this will improve and become a bit more elegant with a few more years. — 7 months ago
