Very nice. I enjoyed after 1 hour decant. Would be better with food but I enjoyed it on its own. — 4 years ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed with a simple meal of pasta all’arrabbiata and over the course of a few hours. The 2021 pours a deep ruby color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of Morello cherry, orange bitters, exotic spices, black tea, black licorice, some dried green herbs and gravely earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and lithe in body. I’ve long been a fan of Fèlsina fan and their Chianti Classico and Riserva especially so. When it’s a great vintage like 2021? Back up the truck. These will drink well through 2031 with ease. I can’t wait to try the CCR! — 2 months ago
Another excellent vintage of this great Barbera-based wine from a great producer. Bright ruby color. Expressive red cherry on the nose with hints of vanilla and violets. Intense red cherry, blackberry and raspberry fruit on the pallet. Creamy texture. Ample acidity makes this a great food wine. (Love this one with pizza.) can handle a chill. Such an underrated varietal. — 2 years ago
Perfect with Italian food. Acidic, high alcohol and fruity. A bit too spicy to be tasted ok its own tho. — 4 years ago
Here’s the thing: this is good wine. It’s dense, chewy, and structured. There’s a nice balance of red and black fruit, graphite, cedar, mushroom, soil, and just a touch of Brett funk. It’s fairly tannic, so probably best with food, but can still be enjoyed on its own. I would never be mad if I was offered this. I was lucky to take home an open bottle from a job tonight, but I think the price tag on this is ridiculous. — 9 months ago
Seems to be better than the 2013 vintage! Strong flavours. Good drinking wine, not sure how well it pairs with food — 4 years ago
Saw this in the Delectable thread the other day and realized I haven’t tried the -15s with food and a long decanting. In a nutshell, high quality, too young, as expected. Light ruby slight brick color; youth- and powerful nose of not tar&roses but sharper, like diesel exhaust & Tom Ford’s Rose Prick - an excellent mix; very high acids and tannins on the palate, dominated by unripe strawberries; finish is of medium length and quite chest-burning despite the indicated 13.5% alc. content. As 2015 was very hot in the summer, one might expect overripe grapes and lower acidity, but not in this beauty. A half-a-decade or more in the cellar should do wonders. — 5 years ago
"Odedi"
Pretty color of dark ruby, with a wide reddish/brick rim.
Very fruity nose of black fruits, cedar, tobacco, spices and black pepper. Still smells fresh.
Full bodied with medium acidity and fat legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with cooked plums, black currants, coffee, dried fruits, oak, cloves, light vanilla, spices, dark chocolates, tobacco, herbs and peppercorn.
Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This 5-year-old Zinfandel is drinking very nicely now, and displaying good aging characteristics, likely due to it being a 375 ml bottle. Complex, with a soft mouthfeel
Peaking now, so drink up. Good right out of the bottle and better than I expected.
Good by itself or with food. Stood up pretty well to the strong French Blue Cheese.
A blend of 85% Zinfandel with Petite Sirah and Syrah.
15.5% alcohol by volume.
91 points.
