The Antinori family of Florence, one of the world's oldest and most distinguished wine producers, has lived in Tuscany since the 14th century. Blend of 80% Sangiovese, 13% Cab Sauv & 7% Cab Franc. Deep Ruby, aromas of black berry fruit aromas with herb and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and cherry with cacao, vanilla and spice. Fine graceful tannins, long finish, well balanced, savory ending with juicy mineral tones. Very Nice!

Part of Super Tuscan Horizontal tasting. All 2016 vintage Masseto, Ornellaia, Sassicaia, Solaia, Tignanello, Redigafi, and a mystery bottle (Phelps Insignia). Fantastic QPR. I plan on tracking more of this down and adding it to my cellar. Cherry, blackberry, with a little bit of vanilla and chocolate supported by solid but soft tannins. Well balanced. Tobacco and earthy on the finish. A little different flavor profile than some of the others, likely due to the 80% Sangiovese blend. I rated this middle of the pack in the tasting but for the price it is a fantastic bottle of wine.

Earth heaven. Dry juices extracted from tobacco, forest floor, and dark, dark cherry. Layered in your mouth and evolved in your throat. I thought I was in heaven but Tammy pulled me back because she felt it didn’t have the great lingering expressive finish... okay, true.

Amazing vintage for Tignanello that will need a min of 5 yrs in the cellar.

Maybe I drank this a bit too early. As it was, it was like an incredibly well blended perfume where it’s difficult to clearly identify the top, middle, and base notes. Smooth as glass, with no discernible edges. Rich, complex, not too light, not too heavy. Overall, delicious, but I can’t say it’s substantially better than many other Tuscan blends I’ve had, some of which are much less expensive. Again, maybe I drank it too early.
