Initially somewhat reticent but after the hour mark this beauty totally turns the corner and opens up to flaunt a seductive bouquet of mineral laced raspberry fruit, licorice and fresh violets. The palate is expansive and succulent with a beautiful texture and notably impressive depth and length for ‘simple’ Bourgogne. Most importantly, it’s so Roumier and the wonderful 2019 vintage is shown here in spades, a combination of ripeness, purity and definition that is going to age especially gracefully. — 2 years ago

Now that the Domaine’s focus is primarily on the Chassagne bottlings, hardly any PYCM Meursault makes its way to the states. Certainly nothing outside of straight village and maybe Narvaux. These premier crus are becoming exceedingly rare. 2012 Gouttes D’Or is simply stunning tonight and a requested advance decant served perfectly for it to flaunt all its PYCM typicity. An absolute monster of a wine. 4 hours in the decanter served perfectly to allow this 2001, perhaps one of the best Hommage vintages ever, to flaunt its incredibly complex aromatic array of black fruits, roasted Provençal herbs, licorice, campfire smoke and Christmas spices.

It’s still youthful with ripe tannins and a ton of muscle. Nowhere near its peak. But it’s entering its drinking window seamlessly, being incredibly giving and expressive with sufficient air. Similar to how VV Gonon differs from the regular bottling, Hommage just cranks everything up to 10 and it’s concentrated flavors come at you in waves. But it never gets heavy as there is just enough lift and precision to keep everything harmonious. A very special bottle from a very special vintage indeed. — 3 years ago

Almost! An almost gold hue. Aromas of fresh kiwi; pine nuts on the backend; rich and ripe!An artfully dense and concentrated intensity. Very round flavors on the fore and mid pallet: fresh sourdough bread up front; the nutty-ness continues on the mid pallet and ends with a slow motion and lingering acidic finish. This wine is absolutely stunning on hour 2+ so that’s where my notes will reflect. Just wish it showed this way longer! After a lengthy decant 2012 Reynard finally comes alive to flaunt explosive, layered and distinctive Allemand aromatics of cassis, violets, olive and crushed stones. The palate has such concentration, depth and fruit intensity that’s seamlessly balanced with its layered minerality. Finish just keeps on going. Love these wines so much. — a year ago

My favorite Lieux dits stunning as always showing immense power, freshness, volume, vivid energy and seemingly infinite depth. Layer by layer it unfurls to flaunt its complex core of rich fruit, roasted nuts, gun smoke, toasty oak and waves of chalky Le Mesnil minerals.
