Château Haut-Bailly

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

MERRY CHRISTMAS to All!

1.5 hour decant(decent chunky sediment). An inspiring dark ruby red color with some bricking. On the nose: kaboom!! That sweet aged Bordeaux perfume!! with red cherry, cassis, smoke, touch of green vegi(luv it), little mint, vanilla, and a whiff of barnyard leather. Taste: smooth medium body wine with cherry, tobacco, smoke, cedar, crushed rocks. Some still there slightly bitter tannins at the end....a perfectly fine wine, but not as great as this vintage would have you think it should be....will wait a few more years for next try.

Surprised by all the low scores considering the price & the so called professional reviews.

@Paul T- Huntington Beach Interesting...reviews upon release? At this point, the wine seems a little light and tired. Had other Colgins recently that are aging great and will keep going..... 2009 estate, 2006 estate, 2009 caraid, 2009 tychson.
