Albahra Garnacha Tintorera 2019

First drink since finishing an antibiotic course and awaiting my root canal in a few weeks. This is zippy fresh but has enough of a bass note- it reminds of some of the amphorae matured trepat I’ve tried-so I stay interested. Also doesn’t shout summer wine. Blackberries, & compote, good balance between fruit & dry. Nicely done for about 19$. Jose Pastor importer — 11 days ago

Valderiz Ribera Del Duero 2015

Bigger than most from this region. Big alcohol but really well balanced. Very dark fruits. Old leather. Old black plums. — 3 days ago

This wine never stops amazing me. Slightly oxidative with tropical fruits and a dash of minerality. As good as anything 5x the price. — 10 days ago

Waxy candied citrus. Wet gravel. Had a ‘14 several years ago but don’t remember it much. Fun to see your wine spidey senses evolve, or at least I like to think so. Found out today that the winemakers who crafted this wine have since ceased making wine. That is a bummer. — 12 days ago

#garnachatintorera #alicantebouschet I’m stoked because I tasted it blind and thought this is Tintorera! And I was right. Deep color. With Tintorera I’m starting to understand the vibe. It’s Syrah color and aromas (savoury, spicy and peppery) with the richness and juiciness of Garnacha Tinta. This is a Basque winery that I believe just buys bulk and commercializes their wines, or at least this series of wines. More or less 6€ a bottle in #Spain its a killer deal of a wine. I personally am not a fan of cartoon like labels. — 24 days ago

Rioja Reserva Selección De La Familia 2015

I drink so much of this and rarely post a review with notes. This is our go-to regular Rioja. We are lucky that our local wine store gets a lot and sells it well below Total Wine's price.

Deep ruby. Red cherry, blackberry, vanilla, and earth on both nose and palate. Dry, medium acidity, medium + alcohol, full-bodied, medium + tannins. Can age or great now.

Grapes drawn from all over Spain to make this one and it tastes like various Spanish varietals all in one so it does what it thinks it will. I like it. Overperforms. — 17 days ago

What a cider should be! Funky, not too sweet. Effervescent but not flat. (I’m rolling my eyes at my own review but I’m not kidding it’s delicious!) 😂 — 5 days ago
