Entrée aux 40 ans d'Adé — 4 years ago
Dark garnet purple. Inviting nose and medium palate of black cranberry and red apple. Medium tannins and juicy medium plus acidity from entry to moderate finish. Cru Beaujolais is either BeauJo Nouveau’s more serious or Burgundy’s more rustic cousin and this one offers an affordable entrée into the genre for those who enjoy either. A great everyday red that will accompany a wide range of red wine fare. Drink now. — 5 years ago
Nice entry level cuvée for this Moulin-à-vét of which Château is one of the sure values of the appellation. Crunchy and fruity, yet with discreet aging notes that suggest mastery and savoir-faire. Simple but classy.
— 5 years ago
— 6 years ago
The first nose is very mineral : crushed rocks only. Then after a while hay comes, then lemon, then after a while pineapple and mango. The nose literally blossoms in the glass. Magnificent ! The palate is pretty straight forward at first with a solid acid backbone and some width with lemon but it gets bigger and wider after a while and the exotic fruits make an appearance in mid palate that turns this bad boy into a beauty. The finish is precise, pretty long, with both lemon and exotic fruits taking turns to show off. It was served along an entrée dish consisting of fresh goat cheese and herbs, candied apricot and pear, beef jamon (cecina) and olive oil. Perfect pairing! — 8 years ago
We have lunch with our friend who lives 25 km away and his sons. It's a repeat of last week's stay in the lot region as they were with us.
No real note as we are all together. Nice chalky nose with lemon. Good acid drive. Perfect with squid salad as an entrée. — 2 years ago
Star bright yellow gold. Inviting nose of quince and white pepper. Medium full palate confirms the nose adding an earthy mineral (at once) note all supported by firm (medium plus) acidity. White rose(!) on the lengthy, palate continuing finish. This 50/50 blend of Gouvelo and Voisinho makes an excellent upper entrée into Portuguese whites; a category most have yet to explore. It's a great pair for roasted fowl or pork and of course most Iberian fare. Drink now through 2026. — 3 years ago
— 5 years ago
PN Gamay Blend #1: A nice biodynamic juice that honours the pinot noir, (by bringing a classy mouth) and the gamay, generous and flowery. The dress is dark but translucent. Open nose, very fruity. In the mouth the material is velvety, combining freshness and roundness, in a balance that makes this wine remarkable in its price range. Nice entry cuvée by an interesting domain of Loire region.
— 5 years ago
Perfect for a Christmas Eve dinner with beef tender line as the main entrée. Everyone loved it. — 8 years ago
— 8 years ago
Top!!! — 8 years ago
A nice example of a fairly obscure varietal. It worked better with my tuna entrée than with Bonnie’s rack of lamb. I think it needs a bit more aging. — 2 years ago
Chalk Yelle fruit ripeness. Perfect entrée into dinner. — 4 years ago
Wonderful entrée into vin santo, rich and concentrated but still light, vibrant, and etherial, macadamia, chestnut, carmel, maple syrup, fresh fruit. — 4 years ago
Slightly hazy (unfined?) gold. Abundant nose of honeyed tropical fruits, baked apple, and vanilla tinged orange crème. Full-bodied palate of cooked pineapple, baked apple, hint of orange, yellow lilies, and… how does one say “baseball bat” only subtly? Another quintessential Russell Bevan white that’s a monster in body, but velvet on the palate. A big wine that begs for big, complex dishes. My drinking partner (who suggested the wine was like an Adele song… you think it’s going to be a rustic stumble, but it clearly has much more going on) made an incredible pork loin, root vegetable, and apple entrée that was right where a dish should be to stand up to this wine. Similar dishes will work. Not your grandmother’s Chardonnay. Drink now through 2023. — 5 years ago
Christmas dinner at La Genestière with the Spooner family. Terrific Chardonnay with lots of shellfish as the entrée. — 6 years ago
This is Gov case winner and I can see why: terroir-driven Chard fruit (slight tropical accent w/ a delicates floral frame) core palate. Sort of like Bluegrass is different than country. It was clean and my only regret was opening about one year too late it was clean and my only regret was letting some of that energy dissipate. At four years from harvest, the oak had rounded and it was certainly delightful. A useful minerality was gentle in the cleansing finish. My mystic was pairing with the wrong entrée which took some of the appreciation out of the quality build. I will look to get a 2017 offering as it should be all this and a little something more ;) — 8 years ago

It may be infanticide, but a 11-14” snow/ice storm called for hasty judgment.
Deep grapey sanguine nose at first with a hint of something red poking around the edges. With meatloaf, perfect. The Cornas filled up any and all empty spaces left by the entrée. Big and muscular at first, but never overwhelming, built with fine tannins and a refreshing acidity filled finish. A peek at the bottle reveals 12.5°, lighter than thought going in, but not surprising, especially as it airs and a more pronounced red fruited quality emerges from the black. If you’ve got some and can wait…do so.
A highly rewarding bottle on a snowbound night.
