One of the bottles we brought back from our annual Napa trip last month. We try to visit 1-2 small/off the radar wineries during our visit, and this was a recommended stop by one of the wineries we were visiting.
Off the beaten path outside of St Helena, behind Ehlers. Alycia Mondavi makes the wines for this very small family operation. All winemaking takes place at the family home on a beautiful secluded property. Luckily for me, they are known for their cab franc. They allowed some library purchases, and this was one of them. The main note that sticks out is raspberry fig. Aromatics are very floral, but lean more red fruit as opposed to purple. Elegant red fruit like raspberries wrapped in cocoa with fig and baking spices. This 2012 was in a really nice spot as it wasn’t overly tannic, yet the finish is still sporting a touch of alcohol (14.4). It borders on integrated, which to me means this is just now entering prime drinking. Floral + raspberry fig and plenty of spiced rhubarb give this cab franc a richness without sacrificing structure. — 6 days ago
Great balance. Excellent value. Drinks like cabs twice its price. Really enjoyable for such a young cab. — 6 years ago
Very youthful Cabernet Sauvignon that showing structure and power.
Nose of blackberry, cedar and eucalyptus ....
Definitely will improve with bottle aging. (14.5% ABV)

One of the best wines at this price point — 3 months ago
Very classic Napa Cab that flies down the middle. The bouquet was ripe raspberries and blackberries, small note of currant and cedar. Front palate was incredibly soft and retained nice acidity...crushed blackberries, graphite, strawberry skin, and smoke. However, the middle and end on the palate felt a bit flat. Decanting improved it a small bit, but it lost weight after entry and the structure wavered. Lower in ABV than many Napa cabs, so maybe that threw me off. It still had a great balance of red and black fruits, hibiscus, and dark chocolate covered plum. Textbook 2014 in terms of accessibility and plush nature. — 3 years ago
Bright, crisp, delicious. Ehlers knows how to do a cab franc. Very good. Better with food. — 4 months ago
On the palate this wine is refreshing with cherry, cranberry and raspberry flavors with hints of lavender and spice. A delightful and expressive rosé. We had this win with squid cooked on the pressure cooker with sautéd green peppers, onions and carrots; and arugula, tomato, Parmesan salad. — 6 years ago
Classic cab with dark fruit, wonderful finish — 6 years ago
