Eden's Breeze

Domaine Tempier

Bandol Rosé Blend 2022

Ming L
9.1

Aromas of strawberry, pomelo, watermelon, rose petal, sea breeze, and hint of thyme. The palate adds additional red berries, citrus, and faint earthy notes. Medium body that is nicely textured. Fresh yet round acidity. There is off-dry sensation on the otherwise slightly savory medium finish.

Lovely but pricy rose.

I would say in many cases, the gold standard for Provence rosés. A property my wife & I visited in 2015.

La Forest Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2005

Nice young yellow canary color. Heavy in the glass. Tropical nose with notes of sea breeze, lemon, kiwi, white stones and tan spice. Glycerol and rich in the mouth. California like, but with nice Chablis nuances. I wonder how this will evolve over next 10 years. Maybe like 92’s? — 3 years ago

Monts Mains Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2007

Clearly that awful picture was taken late into the evening. Aromas that remind you of an ocean breeze. The palate filled with citrus and fruit , so perfectly in balanced. I have no doubt it will continue to age and probably gain greater complexity. This bottle was bought on release and lived in proper storage until it’s demise. — 4 years ago

Côtes de Provence Tibouren Rosé 2018

Pale orange in colour. Gorgeous and elegant aromas of mandarin, sea breeze, thyme, lavender, strawberry and crustaceans. Long saline and vibrant finish. Clean, fresh, nervous and full of finesse.. Might be the best Rosé I ever tasted. And it’s supposed to have some cellar potential, as well....!

Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 1990

Canary gold color, looks young. Memorable nose with notes of lemon, honeysuckle, white acacia blossoms, and white clay with that Kimmeridgian characteristic that says Chablis. With more air, you also get sea shells and ocean breeze, and the telltale Raveneau honey comes out. Coats the mouth... has a huge richness matched against robust structure. This becomes more sweet and exotic as the evening progresses. Of all the bottles tonight, this was gone first. As good as Chablis can get. (Bday 4 of 13) — 6 years ago

Mount Eden Vineyards

Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay 2017

Mount Eden's Chardonnay grapes are harvested when slightly yellow to yellow-green and are pressed without crushing. All of the juice is barrel-fermented in new and one-year-old French Burgundy barrels, where the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged on the lees for ten months prior to bottling. The Chardonnay is then cellared for two years before being released. — 4 years ago

Les Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2001

Medium gold. Heavy in the glass. Gorgeous nose. Notes of sea breeze, sea shells, wet stones, white acacia flowers and some honey. Massive fruit and acidity in the mouth. Great texture and mouth feel. Everything you could ask for in a Chablis… ready to drink now but easily has 10+ years in front of it. Loved this! — 5 years ago

Butteaux Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2000

Tasted blind. Light gold color. Has a nose that immediately takes me to Chablis. Notes of honey, citrus, wet river stone, ocean breeze, tan spice and white chalky soil. Perfectly balanced in the mouth with lots of fruit and acidity. Screams Raveneau. I guess 2000 Raveneau Valmur. Had this side by side with the 2000 Fevre Clos… the 2000 Raveneau Butteaux had 4 hours of air in the decanter, the 2000 Fevre Clos only 30 min… it clearly showed (1) why you age Chablis and (2) why you give them hours of air to open before consumption. The Raveneau was outstanding and the Fevre didn’t have time to show its expression. — 5 years ago

Tenuta Di Castellaro

Bianco Pomice Sicilia IGT White Blend 2018

Opened yesterday, in the fridge overnight. Was supposed to pair with an artichoke pasta yesterday, but got distracted by some pretty spectacular champagne. On the nose: lemon, lime, sea breeze, soft tarragon. On the palate: good acidity, lovely minerality, sea salt, lime, a touch of oiliness and good density, with a mineral yet, richly tinged finish. Excellent. — 6 years ago

A unique wine. Vibrant golden hue, reductive aroma combined with a variety of ripe orchard fruits, saline breeze, pineapple, wet stone. Palate with high acidity, a lingering tannic grip, stony minerality, apple, pear, fresh almonds. I drink the current vintage (which happens to be 2012 this year) with my wife once per year, and have for the last 5 years. Nostalgic. — a year ago

@Ron R I would try it at least once; not a profile that will resonate with everyone, but super classic and old school. Offers a unique experience; it is a wine that if blinded to color, could be mistaken for a red wine

A very interesting inadvertent experiment. I left this in a styrofoam case in my garage. It was there for almost 3 months. The garage hits 90 during the day.

Any rate the wine tastes like the wine.

Go styrofoam !!!!!

Nose is ocean breeze. Lemon flower.

Palate is mineral. Hint of gods lemon soda.

Tio Pepe 'Fino En Rama' Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Palomino Fino

Summer peak and Fino for the wine geek, while I cross my fingers for a sunny streak.
So good, so comforting, so fresh.. like a salty sea breeze that gentle brush your cheeks. Give me two fistfulls of Marcona almonds, plain white bread and a dozen boquerons and I'll be a happy camper.
12th edition of the “en Rama” unfiltered, average five year in the Solera from a year with a “particular healthy flor”.
Fresh as a daisy, intense with a good concentration, yellow bruised apples, lemon zest, chamomille and hay with plenty of iodine, bread dough, salted nuts and chalk that is dancing around. Bone dry palate where the moderate acidity is balanced by a fresh saline structure that keeps the beat and brings nerve through a dimensional mid palate and long chalky finish.

Heritage Chablis Chardonnay 2015

Nose has sauteed lemon with honey, Mediterranean sea breeze, lemon pith, warmed green apple slice, washed strawberries and new hay.

Palate has green apple, yellow apple, dried lemon zest, under-ripe strawberry and (light) limestone The acidity is below our expectations in comparison to shoulder vintages, still a solid wine in any vintage.

Lucien Crochet

Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Tasted double-blind. The 2018 Lucien Crochet pours a very pale straw color. On the nose, almost imperceptible pyrazines. Instead, the smell of an ocean breeze with a touch of cheesy funk that I find rather attractive. On the palate, there is an undeniable freshness to this wine that is really compelling. Citrus fruits with white pepper. Medium-plus acid. Satisfying finish. Very good! — 5 years ago
