We snagged a bottle after a terrific tasting in Los Olivos and now I wish we grabbed two. This was just a great wine from a great vintage for the Santa Ynez Valley - an undercurrent of cooked meat ran throughout the sumptuous dark berry taste. Rounded out with espresso, spice, butterscotch sauce and perfectly calibrated tannins. — 3 months ago
Just a great wine. Smells of juicy yellow fruits and those intensely aromatic white flowers that bloom in the spring. A fair amount of new French oak delivers big time, with pie spices and woodsy accents complimenting (rather than smothering) the fruit. Alcohol just right. One of the best California Chardonnays I’ve ever had. — 3 months ago
17’Dragonette Vogelzang Vineyard SB. As the years progress I’ve noticed some great SB coming out of Happy Canyon in Santa Barbara.
Somewhat racy out of the gate. Let it warm up in the glass for about 15/20 minutes.
Deep straw color.
Nose, spring flowers, bright citrus and flinty minerality.
Orange blossom, pineapple, crisp core of lemon & green apples. Nice acidity 5/10. Long finish. 250 cases made. — a month ago
Great grass nose, pineapples with a touch of minerals on the finish but lacks a smooth finish. May just need to be opened longer. Having with shrimps honey, soy and ginger. Very nice — 2 months ago
Absolutely superb. Incredibly balanced fruit and spice flavor that lingered perfectly like slow burning embers made of velvety taste. A real treat — 3 months ago
Dragonette, always and forever a best. They make slightly lighter Pinots but this one has some oomph. This is the wine of a Pinot grape that clawed it’s way to the top. Both structure and flavor-wise it’s a heavy hitter...for a Pinot. All of which to say dried cherries in vanilla essence and you went to a party and found out there would be a “conversation” about something serious as you dipped into the wine. It is not serious and also serious. Dragonette always has my heart. — 5 months ago
