Popped and poured, consumed over several hours. Initially served chilled and then allowed to come up to room temperature. It should be noted that this was lovely from the first pour but improved with air and as it warmed. The 2009 Domaine du Collier Saumer Blanc pours a bright golden color, with no signs of sediment or gas. High viscosity. On the nose, this is extremely floral…like being in a grove of magnolia trees in full bloom. The flowers are accompanied by bright citrus fruit, lanolin, alfalfa and honey. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. The notes from the bouquet are confirmed and accompanied by the most lovely, almost oily texture. This is oh so woolly! The finish goes long. This is my first experience with Antoine’s wine and I’m now absolutely smitten (thanks Tim). A simply gorgeous example of Chenin from a warm vintage and an alternative to Joly if you crave a natural touch…but not too natural. This is a banger now and will continue to be so for some time. Wow.

Elegant, delicate and vibrant red fruit on the nose. Beautiful smoke and spice from oak. Amazing acidity and balance. Whoa I loved this wine.

I tend to love the weird wines made from masters. Think Paolo Bea Arboreous or Joly Coulee de Serrant or LDH Rose.
Everything about this is artificially flavored candy. It looks like cherry lollipop and smells like red Kool-Aid and Robitusson. Tastes like watermelon Jolly Rancher.
Powerful and viscous as hell, even hot. I know these can age forever and I’d love to see an older bottle. Tons of fun. — 7 years ago
Starts bright with a tannic finish. Perfect food wine. — 7 years ago
Easy to drink - dry after taste - sweet start - evening wine — 10 months ago
Very good after 30-45 minutes. Wonderful juice and a surprise from the “ladybug” year — 5 years ago
A great, yet kinda simple CB. My kind w the tropix but also wool n almost waxiness. Demands a little air but saved us from a corked Joly (1996). — 6 years ago
17.5. Savennieres doesn’t get much better. This has more acidity than the usual Baumard or Joly, but lots of fruit, v long. Could hold 5+ years. — 6 years ago
Started off with a very strong nose of apple cider and not much taste. After an hour and change, had a lovely nose of baked apple and spices, and tasted sweeter. Reminded me of a Joly Savennieres — 7 years ago
This wine is in a different orbit. I can safely say I have never tasted a wine this smooth, this balanced, this subtle… this uplifting. Fine polished tannins take this juicy, vibrant fruit infused with black olive and lifted with earthy notes from the stones of the Rocks District to a finish that stays with you for minutes and can only make you think of one thing: I want another sip…. but I I want this wine to last for ever ….good problem to have 😁. Like Nicholas Joly said. A good wine makes you feel something deeply inside and you can ‘feel’ the wine. This one sure did. — 7 months ago

Wednesday Wine Committee. Great hosting by Gavin. 1 sparkler, 4 whites, 4 reds and 2 dessert wines. All served blind as usual.
Classic and down the middle. Almost Viognier like with the floral aromatics and lack of acidity. Cinnamon, baking spices, lemon bar, and sea shell notes on the palate. Bordering on steely. — 7 years ago

I did not know that it existed and I had way too much wine to order another bottle but could not resist trying it. It is very complex, extremely aromatic, starts out as a dry wine and gradually develops in the glass, very smooth but with very nice acidity true to a chenin. Wonderful. — 8 days ago
