While the Greek name 'xinomavro' translates to 'black acid', this wine was light in tannins and acidity, clean, mellow.
Violets and red plums in summer on ye nose and something more that I cant define. (In the second bottle I got it; artisan made strawberry pop tarts)
More violet but also strawberry on my tongue. Maybe I taste volcanic soil??

Knew nothing about this wine when i bought it and, honestly cant find much about it, at least not in english. Bordeaux meets Rioja in this wild catalan blend of cab, garnacha, tempranillo, and merlot. Dried cherries and plum, leather, briny black olive, and thyme. Full body and rich not grippy tannin. Cant begin to explain how incredibly good this is! As you can see the color is intact. The smell is evocative with rose petals, cigar box, leather, black currant. First taste after decanting, the wine shows some deep concentrated flavours of black berry, plum, and even some prune. Tannins are present but round and velvety. Alcohol is mid to low. The finish goes on for minutes. Very concentrated yet balanced with just enough acidity. Love it. Cheers. — 3 years ago
