A well made clean and flavoursome Japanese whisky coming in at 50%ABV. An interesting story about the source of the water for the distillery which is near Mt Fuji. The purity of the water is always a key issue in the making of quality whisky. As the story goes the water used at Fuji Gotemba distillery is taken from 3 underground bores that tap into underground streams which are 100 metres deep. Analysis has shown that the water used today fell on Mt. Fuji as snow 50 years ago. — 4 years ago
Deep, rich nose of hazelnut, butter toffee, dried apricots, ginger, peat, stewed fruits, white raisin. Really rounded and balanced on the palate, surprisingly fruity for scotch. — 2 years ago
This might be my favorite Speyside. Very pleasant nose with complex, deep flavors. Well balanced and smooth. — 4 years ago

I Forgot I still had this at the warehouse, well I had some leftover before tonight at least. Even better now with air in the bottle for a couple years.
The Dark is an award-winning 17-year-old single malt Scotch whisky that has been matured in first-fill European oak sherry seasoned casks, delivering a distinctly deep flavor, packed with ripe cherries, toasted almonds, and dark chocolate overlaid with hints of smoky peat. — 3 years ago
Deep notes of rich, golden honeycomb, espresso, and cocoa. This was one of the very first bourbons I ever purchased, and here we are several years (and multiple bottles) later and I’m still keeping their stuff in my liquor inventory because it’s just that delicious, especially for the price point. — 4 years ago

Hard to believe these two whisky’s are both Macallan 12 with almost the same ABV (63.6 vs 63.4). This has a lot more color and it shows up in the flavor. On the nose you get a deep, dark sugar which carried over onto the full flavor upon tasting. The finish lasts forever and unlike the Albino Rhino version it is full mouth filling. Almost an after dinner drink. Super happy I had this one after the Rhino since that would have been rated even lower. — 6 months ago
