Lemon and grapefruit accents, medium body, nice acidity, enjoyed as our “pre-lunch” morning aperitif (since Alba is Latin for Dawn, seemed appropriate to drink as a morning wine). — 2 years ago

Dark cherry, blueberry, licorice and spice on the finish. Bigger style of Brunello. — 4 years ago
@Dawn E. Nailed the notes on this wine/vintage. Impressed, girlfriend. But we’ll take a hard right turn on the rating. We were really impressed with how it presented. Less limestone, more citrusy and moderately sweet. In some ways, similar to the Edge Hill.

Nice very Mosel aromatics with the mineral edge dialed up.
Underripe white peach, fresh lemons, slate, moist earth, summer meadow at dawn. Plus a whiff of Mandarine peel and a distinctive salty note.
On the palate this is not as filigrane as the Haart Riesling, with a touch more weight, the fruit riper & more present but the precision here is incredible. The same racy acidity, purity & energy.
Finishes off on a v. long slatey, mineral note.
A brilliant one! — 4 years ago
They have done it again, another home run from Alheit, amped up to eleven but in a fresh casing. A stunning Chenin that is all about texture
Pronoucned intense, somewhat reductive at first, but soon blooms out to expose an amazing array of aromas of fresh but ripe fruit, ripe lemons, bruised apples, honeydew melon, orange blossom followed by beeswax, cashew nuts and a very present savoury complexity with a salty breeze and dusty rock minerality.
Rich palate with a focused and tactile, high acidity that penetrates the medium full body with a pronounced fruit profile of juicy but fresh fruit, lemon juice, melon, honey, expansive complexity with a rocky and salty base note that evolves into a toffee and milky like texture through a long finish. Brilliant

2014 vintage. Decanted and tasted 30 mins and an hour post-decant. Yellow Chartreuse color. Beautiful vanilla/cinnamon Jeffrey pine at dawn nose. That flowed over into the flavors along with substantial mineral components. Showing great. Very enjoyable. 1.12.24. — 2 years ago

Fruit forward, oaky, smooth. Dawn liked it! — 4 years ago
An Italian grape in Mendocino! And made by a woman winemaker. Which mayhaps helps explain how this wine can have tough tannins all mellowed by a chocolate covered cherry. When you are a woman obscuring your toughness (so you aren’t labeled as a problem) with a friendly nature (so they think oh she’s sweet) is an acquired skill. One that does well by Dolcetto.
It is the bitterest of chocolate and the freshest and also dried-est of cherries. Omigod it is not sweet but it realllllly reminds me of dark chocolate covered cherries. And maybe someone infused that butter chocolate with a chili pepper because there is a zing to it. I will party with this wine all night and probably tell it my secrets before dawn. — 5 years ago
