Just had it with Dodge Cove oysters. Acid, citrus and great mineral. — 6 years ago
This was 3rd out of 4. Highly recommended by Jeffery at HyVee 132nd & Dodge, it was a $20 bottle and our highest cost bottle... — 7 years ago
Ginger, caramel, baked green apple, poached pear, apple blossom, slight iodine, cinnamon, dried pineapple and sage aromas. Prickly entry with pine nettle, candied ginger, lemon oil, pineapple, orange peel, lime pith, cinnamon oil giving a capsaicin bite, oregano, rosemary and clove. Spicy and bold, neat. Chilies, eucalyptus and anise flutter behind. Numby. Nice dodge at the end avoids a medicinally disappointing finish. Good stuff. #rye #whisky #whiskey #ryewhiskey #ryewhisky #CatoctinCreek #catoctincreekroundstonerye #copperpotstill #vawhisky #potstill #singlebarrel — 4 years ago
This was enjoyable. Didn’t notice the thyme as much on the nose as the palette. — 6 years ago
1st Place and we win.... I haven’t won for about a year on competition because I’m making changes to what I have been going with over what my instincts tell me. Have to give all the credit on this one to Jeffrey Bell at HyVee 132nd & Dodge... thanks pal. Interesting this was the oldest vintage year of the 4 tonight — 5 years ago

Clean, medium + intense, backhands at first but highly concentrated aromas that opens into a layered complexity with some air. A primary mix of red and black fresh fruit, raspberries, black plums, blueberries with a floral stroke of lavender over a very well defined savoury canvas of black olives, spice (juniper), wood (pine) and rocks.
Palate is dry with a medium + acidity. Tannins are high, but with a fruity and curved texture. Medium alcohol and a medium + body. Pronounced flavour intensity with characters of black fruit, spice, lavende that is evolving over a long finish.
Very good quality wine, still youthful but shows a very complex potential. With an evolving complexity and a high concentration. Still youthful, yet good balance with a intense fruit profile that carrress the tannins and a vibrant acidity that brings nerve to the wine. 9.3 — 4 years ago
