Cortese Barbaresco

De Forville

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2021

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of dinner. The 2021 pours a pale garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of Morello cherry, raspberries, red flowers, tar, dried green herbs and gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. One of the better bargains in the world of wine. Drink now through 2041. — 2 days ago

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2021

Raspberry, roses & tar on the nose, grippy tannins and a slight meatiness on the palate. Fruit is present but ever so slightly lacking for me, I wish it translated from the nose to the palate just a touch more. Overall very nice and enjoyable! — 24 days ago

Mein erster Marchesi di Gresy. Und nach dem jetzigen abend nicht mein letzter! Ribes, waldkirsche, tabak, thymian, rauchig, etwas caramel, komplex, langer abgang! — 15 days ago

Riserva Montefico Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2013

Quite dissapointing, in a tertiary phase which I didn’t expect. Very high acidity. Improved with air but not what I’m used to from this winery. I still have the Asili from this vintage for which I’m now quite worried about… — 7 days ago

I had the Ovello ‘13 a while ago which also started “tired” but opened up beautifully after some time in the decanter. I still have some ‘11s for my daughter her birthyear which I will open this year to check 😅

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2021

Bright Ruby with aromas of dark fruits, spices, oak and floral notes. On the palate flavors of cherry and sweet plum with notes of herb pepper, tobacco, cedar and cacao. Long finish, nice balance with fine soft tannins, ending with oak and earthy notes. Needs a few more years in the bottle! — 23 days ago

Riserva Montestefano Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2019

Phenomenal wine! Elegant but with subtle power. Rich red fruit with dark raspberries, hints of strawberry, crushed stone, touches of tar and cedar and subtle hints of smoke with chalky tannins. Classic barbaresco. Will try again! A wine to go back to. — 17 days ago

Riserva Asili Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2015

Aromas of rose, tobacco, red fruits, stewed fruit, an herbal component, and anise. Taste of red, cherries, cranberries, and a nice spice note. Velvety and luscious with a long finish. A Great Barbaresco! — 25 days ago
