Col Solare

Collector's Society Red Mountain Cabernet Franc 2022

Deep purple in color with a wide purplish rim.

Strong nose of black currants, plums, oak, chocolates, black pepper and herbs.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, licorice, light earth, herbs, black pepper, spices and chocolates.

Nice length on the finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.

This is a very tasty Cabernet Franc from Red Mountain in Washington State. Showing nice complexity with a soft mouthfeel.

Still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years and see how it evolved. Has good potential to become a 94 point wine.

This Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc is smooth, rich and fruit forward. Soft and elegant. Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food.

A blend of 94% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in all new French oak barrels for 20 months. A small production of less than 3,500 bottles.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

Wine Society - a pleasant Italian wine - mild fruity tones that linger well after the wine has left the mouth. Definitely will order again - would be idle for BBQs and summer evenings. — 5 years ago

Grand Cru Brand Riesling

Had his as a Guwerztraminer tasting event at Beetle Cat in Atlanta, hosted by the Southeast Sommelier Society. Gorgeous floral nose of peach blossoms, white rose petals and lychee. On the palette, this wine was impeccably balanced with lemon tart acidity cutting though the evident residual sugar. Succulent notes of fresh apricot, lychee and lemon tart to a long and refined finish. — 8 years ago

OGP The Original Grandpere Vineyard Zinfandel 2018

Purchased at the winery in 2024. Damn this is deep. From the 1869 Grandpere Vineyard in Amador County. 1869. The Civil War was still fresh in people’s minds and the grass hadn’t even grown over Abe Lincoln’s body yet. Hard to comprehend in 2025.

Deep and pure black cherry fruit and minerality on the nose. silky and mouthfilling on entry, the mid-palate is large-framed and pulls in savory elements. Long finish. Such a special vineyard and such a special wine. Intensity of flavor without any jamminess or residual sugar or loss of balance.

Dominio del Plata (Susana Balbo)

Private Edition for The Wine Society Red Blend

We just had the 2011 vintage and apparently it has nothing in common with prior vintages. Given time, super chocolate notes to start and later leather and tobacco flavors and nose come through. Not what I would typically expect of a malbec but a nice wine with a good rare steak...and pretty damn good with chicken — 7 years ago

Cortezada Ribeira Sacra Godello Blend 2019

Blend of Godello (40%), Albariño (40%) and Treixadura (20%) from the spectacular Cortezada plot. Built in the 1920s on the south bank of the Sil River in Ourense, it was abandoned after the Civil war and replanted around 2000. Fresh, fruit-forward. Citrus (lemon) aromas and flavors. Good structure. Mineral, some flinty notes, slightly saline. — 5 years ago

Absolute gusto! Prior: After I Practiced my civil duties , I wanted to ease back in my sipping seat to do some deflecting/reflecting on the last 4 years of this political climate. I can only hope for the best man to win but with this tasty wine in my glass I don't need to stress about who wins because what difference will it really make?! Happy election day everyone!🖐️ — 6 years ago

Armada Vineyard Syrah 2010

Can’t go wrong with the always unique outlier Cayuse in the mix. Raconteur @Shay A brought this and the expected fox fur and raw hot dog bouquet hits you immediately upon initial swirl. Blood and iron everywhere. Like a civil war battlefield. Always fun. — 8 years ago
