Chateau Latour

Château Latour

Premier Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

Tasted blind. Medium deep garnet ruby and medium garnet ruby rim . Quite cool and restrained , again lots of grafite and mineral , dark fruits . This is quite deep and dark spicy cassis , blackberry and sea spray , saline . Quite dense and robust on the palate again , lots of fine but ripe tannins. Very long , dense , cassis , cedar grafite saline finish . This is a complete and great example of 2005 , great balance and enormous length , the longest of all on show here. Drinkable now , but surely it’s best days are in the future , wait another 5 -10 years , will last well a further 20 - 25 if not more . The apex of 2005 ? For me this had to be the Latour , and an archetypal example of Latour no less . 1st place and the gold medal . — 2 days ago

Domaine Latour-Giraud

Meursault-Genevrières 1er Cru Chardonnay 2015

2015 vintage. Tasted the 2023 version two days ago (9.4). Massive fruit and acidity and built for the long haul. So too, was this effort. Decanted and tasted after an hour at approx 62 degrees. Medium-heavy body. Golden ripeness harnessed by governing acidity. Hovers in this state for another 4-5 years before descending to a different stratum. 3.20.26 — a month ago

Much more open than the bottle of a couple of weeks ago which I scored 92 and was a bit of a disappointment given the price t.b.h. I would say no hurry to consume these but I don't think this will improve a lot more more either. — 21 days ago

Château Latour à Pomerol

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

2017 vintage. Medium-heavy body. Brusque as fusque. Serious bruiser. About as much nuance, currently, as a car alarm at 3:47am outside your window. Fruit about as dark as you can get. Should be doxxed and serve out a mandatory 10-12 year sentence before sampling again. Even then, probably too soon. Recidivism is thy name. Total bad boy. Good luck with this one. You'll need it. 3.25.26. — a month ago
