Blend of 50% Grenache, 50% Carignan from 85-year-old, co-planted vines at approximately 900 ft in Banyuls. Aged for 6 months in used oak. Very fragrant and fruit-forward. Beautiful aromas of red fruit, strawberry jam and floral notes. Ripe, juicy, super drinkable — 6 years ago
From a Magnum for a small gathering, citrus and mandarine aromas, seashells with nice backbone with a slight roundness and richness, yet easy drinking and delicious, mouth watering salinity, very good.
Magnum pour une petite fête, bord de mer et agrumes, mandarines au nez. Belle acidité, attaque ronde, droit ensuite pour finir sur une salinité qui donne l’eau à la bouche, facile à boire et très bien. — 6 years ago
Muscadet is the bees knees although sans their honey. Crisp and citrus and there is a certain richness in there too but the acid and such cut through like a laser hellbent on establishing order in a lees-y world. Yay this. Wants fries. Or that is maybe just me. — 7 years ago

Paul T, Missing My Beautiful Wife 24/7
I actually had bees knees for dinner, what are the odds!
A few years ago before a short trip to Nantes, @Peter van den Besselaar pointed me in the direction of this producer of Muscadet. “Put it in your cellar and forget about it!” he said. I bought 6 bottles of each of the single “vineyards” varieties (they are called different there) and the only thing is….. it should have been 12 or 18 or….. what a fantastic wines they produce, mineral, acid, full bodied. And the PQR is outstanding. They go (as Muscadet should) with fruits de mer, with steamed mussels or simply alone! — a year ago
Translucent light colour. Typical nose of
Chenin, citrus zest, melon. In the mouth, the acidity is sharp and constitutes the backbone of the tasting, which is spread over several levels, with notes that are both resin and herbaceous mineral. It is certainly a work of high mastery. Perfect with oysters and seafood.
Robe claire translucide. Nez type des
Chenin, zeste d’agrume, melon. — 4 years ago
Châteaux Pradeaux is located in Bandol AOC, of Provence, France, near the magnificent coastal town of Saint Cyr-sur-Mer, situated on the Mediterranean Sea. I imagine there are breathtaking views of the azure waters from the vineyards and estate of Château Pradeaux. 🌊
Generations of the Portalis family have produced wines from this estate dating back to 1752. The land has seen devastation such as the French Revolution, Phylloxera, and World War II, and yet today it remains strong, carrying forward the family traditions, thanks to the fortitude, will, and courage of the Portalis family. 💪
👁 It is medium ruby with garnet rim variation. It has a subtle haze, perhaps because this wine was not fined nor filtered.
👃 On the nose this wine has a baked, black fruit quality, with notes of blackberry, plum, and black cherry 🍒 ; also notes of dried lavender, anise, clove, cedar, nutmeg, tobacco, leather, peat moss, meat, and barnyard.
👄 On the palate, this wine is dry. It has medium acidity, a medium(+) body, medium alcohol, high tannins, and medium(+) intensity in flavors that are consistent with the nose.
The grapes were not destemmed in the winemaking process, which has undoubtedly contributed to the strong and grippy tannins experienced in the glass. This wine benefits from decanting and could also benefit from more time in the bottle. 👍
In sum, this wine tells a story of commitment, perseverance, and respect for the land from which it’s cultivated. It’s made with minimal intervention and has 95% Mourvèdre and 5% Grenache. 📚

Chenin blanc, fruité, tendu, aromatique aux agrumes et notes d’ananas sur le millésime 2018. Parfait en apéro, parfait sur fruits de mer et crustacés. Le parfait blanc de tous les jours — 5 years ago
Dark gold colour. A nose of fairly ripe apples and pears, sea salt with that salinity on the palate too, fairly wide and yet mineral wine, some nice richness and yet good energy also, long finish and delicious bottle, that gives you a lot at this price point. 91-92
Couleur or foncée. Nez de pommes assez mures, poires, sel de mer et un peu de salinité au nez comme en bouche pour ce vin délicieux, minéral, assez large, riche avec un certain gras, énergique aussi, long en bouche et qui en donne beaucoup à ce prix. Magnifique 91-92
