Reynard Cornas Syrah 2012

This wine is absolutely stunning on hour 2+ so that’s where my notes will reflect. Just wish it showed this way longer! After a lengthy decant 2012 Reynard finally comes alive to flaunt explosive, layered and distinctive Allemand aromatics of cassis, violets, olive and crushed stones. The palate has such concentration, depth and fruit intensity that’s seamlessly balanced with its layered minerality. Finish just keeps on going. Love these wines so much. — 4 days ago

Château de Saint-Cosme

Gigondas Red Rhone Blend

Almost ten years in bottle and this is coming together better than before. Enough Grenache to keep it medium than heavy, enough morvedre to provide tannins and enough Syrah for spice. Alcohol has melded and tannins and acidity play their part. I like southern Rhone, oak in control, lovely earthiness and spice. — 5 days ago

Deep and meaty. Iron and plush plum. Herbs and blood. Rounded and perfectly resolved. Spectacular — 6 days ago

Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2015

The good stuff ;) Hell ya. Dark fruit tannic bomb. Silky and sexy. Decanted, just barely hitting a drinkable stage. Could use 10 years, 20 years, 30 years (!) in the bottle … but who the f*ck is going to live that long? So drink now and enjoy! — 20 days ago

Crozes-Hermitage Syrah 2019

A racy Crozes, black fruits, floral, peppery. The first is jovial, with a great juicy freshness, the body is of an unexpected depth, with many nuances evolving during tasting. Very good young but can grow old.

I enjoy French wine, French fries, and French toast. Screw Bill ‘O and the GOP whiners. Where are the WMD in Iraq? Plus, this is the best Cote Du Rhône I have ever quaffed. Legs for miles. — 8 days ago

Domaine Auguste Clape

Cornas Syrah 1999

Woah dude. Right in the pocket. Pepper n Spice n Menthol wrapped up in inky goodness. Resolved tannins provided a gentle structure. Incredible. — 18 days ago

Complex and elegant.
Deep ruby in colour with aromas of dark cherry, leather, roses and violets.
Juicy raspberries, cassis, tea, anise and fennel seeds with silky tannins and a mineral tinged finish.

La Chapelle Hermitage Syrah 2012

Drank this 2012 in early 2023 and I think it is still young! Could go another decade. Delicious nonetheless. Immediate scents of green bell pepper and herbaceous goods that morphs into blue and black fruits. Vanilla is present but definitely secondary. Upon drinking there is a solid structure with a focused power of restrained medium acidity. Spices and some grease come to the forefront. Great lasting finish. Would love to try again in a few years. — 17 days ago
