Popped and poured to celebrate 18 Super Bowls together; enjoyed over several hours. This bottle of 2005 “Sammarco” has been in my cellar since release. It pours a deep garnet with a near opaque core. Medium+ viscosity with very light staining of the tears and some signs of light sediment. On the nose, cherries, black tea, dry earth, porcini, and a bit of an old library smell…one with a sizable collection of leather bound books. On the palate, the wine is dry with fully integrated tannins and medium acid. The finish is long with notes of leather, sarsaparilla, fresh Italian herbs and tobacco. This IGT is showing a tremendous sense of place and I’m smitten. At peak but I don’t see this falling off a cliff anytime soon. Drink now and over the next 10 years. Bravissimo! — a month ago

100% Sangiovese, deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits and sweet spice notes, French oak aging. On the palate flavors of sweet black cherry and currants with tobacco and earthy floral tones. Fine ripe tannins, vivid acidity, well balanced, long finish ending with earthy mineral character, nice mouthfeel. Drinking well now and, will age well! — 13 days ago
On the lighter side with complexity in spice and blackberry notes — a month ago
Solid Chianti. Cranberry raspberry some earth but could use more. Crisp. — a month ago
Whenever in doubt, reach for Monsanto CCR; it will deliver. In this case, I needed something to sip on and use to cook with. Popped and poured; no formal notes. Beautiful dark cherry fruit with black tea and dried green herbs. Medium structure. Medium finish. It touches you in all the right places. Drink now and through 2027. — a month ago
So elegant and classy. I paired this with homemade pizza with chorizo and red onion.
It offers complex and completely resolved dried red fruit notes, still lively but rounded tannin and excellent balance in the acidity. In a really great place where it is difficult to parse the individual parts but the whole is immensely satisfying. — a month ago

What an intoxicating nose. I spelled this for two minutes before I had the first sip. Wow. — 6 days ago
