Super interesting. Pigato is Vermentinos reclusive brother from Liguria. More dense mouth feel but not lacking minerality or balance. A 2016 Kermit Lunch selection has no funk just a really good white with hints of peach and salinity. Paired well with our oysters. Glad I dug this out and finally tried it. Tasted blind . Slightly cloudy, quite light garnet and wide garnet rim . Slightly funky on the nose , slightly deeper darker fruits , quite light in frame , slightly ethereal . Wild strawberry , raspberry , light herbal hints . Quite reserved and elegant on the palate , quite light tannins , fresh acidity . Slightly simple , but ok length finish. Stellar Barolo. Definitely of the new school, lighter color, lightly structured, but radiant fruit in a refined style. Decanted 2hrs. Perfect pairing for veal/osso buco, maybe less so for a roast. Some debate whether more age would refine the fruit further or cause it to dissipate. No idea but have two more so can experiment!
