Actually a blend of Cab Sauv, Castelão, Syrah, Touriga Nacional and Alicante Bouschet. This wine is a very dark purple, almost inky. The nose is also dark, showing blackberry notes alongside savory tobacco, spice and earth, all in a very smokey framework. The palate of this interesting blend is nearly stunning. Tannins have a good grip, but the blue fruit flavors are amazing and the acidity leaves the sipper salivating. It seems bizarre to me that this wine cost less than $10. It drinks like it should cost much more.

A deep red color in the glass. Fruit forward. Enjoyed it with grilled steak. Flavors of blackberry, plum and pepper. — 7 months ago

Beautiful Dao red — meaty and earthy yet refined. It took some time to breathe but delicious with my Christmas Eve meal.
This winery also makes great Portuguese olive oil. — 15 days ago
