115 Clone Pinot Noir

This is the 115 Clone. Well made with 13.3%. The wine maker likes Burgundy and it shows. Bright CA fruit. Mostly dark. More blackberries than cherry. Spicy. Well balanced. Just 49 cases made usually available in Healdsburg in the tasting room or via the wine club. This is a top tier winery. — 6 years ago

Pommard Clone Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

75 cases Pommard clone. Quite fruit driven and plummy. More California in style and 14%. Not my style but well made. Has mandarine components - limited acidity. From Alan’s experiment bottling different clones from the same vineyard in different bottles. — 7 years ago

Green Valley Pinot Noir 2012

2012 Green Valley Pinot Noir. Black raspberry preserves and baking spices on the nose. Bright acidity and a surprising front palate of leather/herbaceous notes that fade into wild strawberries, black raspberries, and cedar. — 11 years ago

So here is the thing. The folks at Cartograph in Healdsburg really know their shit. And you need to age their wines just like Burgs. Pale - spicy orange zest hint of violets and jasmine. On second thought baking spices and an almost a Port like mouthfeel. Excellent. — 7 years ago

777 Clone Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2016

Fun stuff just 75 cases. Alan bottled 3 different clones from one single vineyard and made them the same way. This is the first - 777 is dark cherry driven has a sour blackberry undertow and a hint of earth. Next I post on the Pommard Clone! — 7 years ago

Saltonstall Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

New to me. Excellent savory Pinot. Low %. Great balance and stance. Cherry and rocks. Very well made in a style which leans on the Burgundian way with CA fruit. A winery to watch! Their Riesling and Gewürztraminer are also real standouts. Tasting room is in Healdsburg. — 7 years ago

Estate Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2016

Power Outage on Valentine’s Day. We are f’ed. But very romantic. A great estate wine! Low % plenty of acid. Blend of red berries. Now power back on at 7:52. Quite subtle may be Raspberry. The best US Estate wine I have had so far! — 7 years ago

We poured a 09->12 vertical of Floodgate yesterday and the 2010 seemed to me to be in the perfect spot to drink now. Me, I'm four stars on that :-)
