It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Deep ruby in color with a reddish/ brick rim.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing currants, plums, cooked cherries, spices, oak, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, earth and light vegetables.
Short finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.
This 11-year-old Merlot from Bordeaux is a little unbalanced, but drinkable nonetheless. Elegant and complex, but lost some of its fruits by now.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after an hour of airtime.
I had this vintage 2 years ago and it is drinking a little better now.
A good food wine that I paired with pizza.
100% Merlot grapes from 70 year old vines, were aged in French oak barrels (70% new). A small production of only 9,000 bottles.
13% alcohol by volume.
89 points.

One of the best Virginia cab francs I’ve had. — 4 years ago
We had the 2021 Vintage on 6/13-14/25. An excellent representation of a good SLH PN. Scents and tastes of black cherry, black raspberry, cinnamon and baking spices. Well balanced, fruit forward. Very good and consistent over many years — 5 months ago

Apple, lemon, mango, melon and slate. Great acidity and minerality. — 5 months ago
Jarvis is a winery I will always have fond memories of due to visiting it many times so early in my wine journey. While I enjoyed the reds (especially the cab franc and merlot), their Finch Hollow Chardonnay (both the filtered and unfiltered) were standouts. My last bottle!
A youthful bright yellow in the glass. Rich and integrated aromatics of salted popcorn, lemon cream and honey roasted cashews. Tidal wave of flavor on the palate that borders on hedonistic but pulls back just before. Oak is in-play with some baking spices and honey helping round the profile. Acidity has faded a bit but these have always had good phenolic grip, an almond skin-like finish. This reminds me of a blend of Aubert’s SugarShack (Napa warmth) with Kongsgaard (texture and grip). Not getting any better, this is a window that I have to imagine the winery was working towards. Delicious. — 7 months ago
Tastes even better after it breathes. Robust, hearty grape taste. Nice tannins. No lingering aftertaste. Smooth mature wine with a pleasant finish. — 4 years ago

Start to finish luxurious! Bouquet, color, and legs are amazing. Delicious with matured flavors of vanilla, apple, and a hint of pear! Finish is long and velvety. Enjoy!! — 3 months ago
