Pretty solid rustic Nero di Troia. Probably the best of my 4-5 samples of this grape. 3 bicchieri is a stretch but it’s not like the Gambero Rosso guys don’t make worse calls. — 4 years ago

Castel Giocondo Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2014

March 2024. Solid, classic, very enjoyable Brunello. Have had 2 vintages if this wine now. 2014 here and the 2016 in a restaurant. This 2014 (not a great vintage year) was surprisingly very good. The 2016 was young,so we decanted. It was much better, as expected given the great vintage year ‘16 was. Look forward to having more of this! — 9 months ago

Interesting and tasty red from Pulgia, not sure where obtained. Dark Ruby. Forest, mushroom and ripe dark fruits, keep one sniffing. minerals and acids in balance with almost velvety coating on palate. Long lingering finish. Wonder how it tastes when young. Found previous notes, AA18 red blend Predominantly Nero di Troia with Montepulciano per wine searcher. Last bottle. — 2 years ago

Clos du Belvedere Blanc Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache Blanc 2019

Really good. Pineapple, yellow fruit, spice and vanilla. A fresh and biting streak balances the sweetness and confectionary tastes of the mid palate. I can’t believe this is Grenache blanc!

I love most of the ‘19 whites I’ve tried in both the Rhone and Loire so far. Exceptional balance and minerality.
