Vintage 2013 | 90 Tempranillo 10 Syrah | Warm, spicy, a bit rustic, rich. When wine has ripened it often is more difficult to determine its origin. My winefriends thought Barbera and I fully understand this. I drank it with a fillet steak and salad and I like the combination of velvety structure and rustic smell. It is a reflection wine. Vines are 75 y old. 24 months barrel aging on new French and American oak. — 2 days ago

If you think all Aussie Chardonnay is big, rich & buttery, try this antidote.
Fresh, crisp with crunchy green apple & green papaya. Some underripe apricots, too.
On the palate this is juicy, fresh with vibrant acidity. Quite light on alc (12.5%) and light on the exotic fruit.
Would not call it Burgundian but it’s highly drinkable and surprisingly nice. — a month ago

This is the 2nd rated Vasse Felix Chardonnay behind the world class Heytesbury and ahead of the amazing value Filius. This was my last 2017 having made no notes for the first two. Expresses everything which is great about Margaret River Chardonnay. Complexity without cost. Ripe grapefruit with a balanced creamy French oak note which is largely integrated at 7 years of age. More citrus than stone fruit - a little nectarine? Great QPR at $31 AUD. — 6 months ago

At my Chardonnay Challenge of 6 wines with very close scores the Heytesbury finished 6th. I still gave it 95 points and a Gold Medal. HH said “powerful grapefruit and citrus - Gingin/Mendoza clones and 97 points “. A semi regular annual purchase for me. Had my 2nd last bottle 31 weeks later on 11th April 2025. Still holding up - delicious, funky and a class act. Still strong citrus and grapefruit and a smoky note. — 9 months ago
