Buttercup

Ceritas

Peter Martin Ray Vineyard Chardonnay 2020

Buttercup gold core with light green tones to the edges, and a medium body with nice long legs. The nose is reminiscent of salt air, with apricot pastry and notes of florals, maybe orange or lemon blossom, layered beneath. The salinity is prominent on the palate, but fades in the middle, revealing green figs, cumquat, apricot, some vegetal notes, almost dry wood like, with definitely some lightly present oak, but a silky, glazed pastry like finish that lasts and lasts. A beautiful and restrained representation that pretty much could be old world if you weren’t paying attention. — 3 years ago

Château de Montfort

Demi-Sec Vouvray Chenin Blanc 2016

This wine is the whole of nature blessed by Helios — a ray of sunshine magnified by a dewdrop, a honeycomb with the residual buzzing of laboring bees, the glow of a buttercup on a baby’s chin. Happy, bright, a spiritual salve. NH Wine Store, buy and save for a rainy day. High marks for mood enhancement. — 9 years ago

Bass Phillip

Premium Chardonnay 2014

Bass Phillip is arguably the best producer of Pinot Noir in Australia so you would expect he would produce an excellent Chardonnay - and he does. This had full buttercup yellow in colour. Big and generous - rich and buttery with ripe fruit and integrated oak. Some notes of pear amongst the stone fruit. Somewhat old fashioned in style. — 4 years ago

Compared to Burgundy, I think so Ron. I paid $90 AUD. Value for money can be relative I’m sure you agree.

Paul Jaboulet Aîné

Domaine Mule Blanche Crozes-Hermitage Roussanne Marsanne 2018

“All my wines tells a story” is quoted by Caroline Frey and the back label, and I do Iove this story from start to finish. Make it a winter staple and pair it with a French classic, such as Sole à la meunière or a Chicken with cream and mushroom sauce.
La Mule Blanche from Paul Jaboulet Aine is an equal blend of Marsanne and Rousanne. It present a Burgundian like expression but a bit riper profile. Ripe primary fruit with grilled lemon, juicy peaches, honey and buttercup that is supported by a foundation of nuts and crushed stones. A lovely texture on the palate with good weight and density that is balanced by a savoury and fresh base note that holds the wine togheter throughout the finish.

Josephshöfer Auslese Riesling 1997

1997 vintage. Rich aromas of pineapple, buttercup, honey, praline/candied almonds. Well balanced and vibrant acidity. Rich and fruity with minerals and hint of smoke. Medium long finish. Very pleasant wine which still holds the typical Riesling freshness after 16 years. A good buy for anyone who wants to try an aged Riesling without spending a fortune. — 9 years ago

aromas show sweet melon, buttercup, dandelion, wood/sawdust, mandarin orange, ripe peach, stone
flavors add candied lemon and some pineapple.....a bit on the oily sweet side- but with just enough acid to give it a balance that keeps you sippin.
